Hair & Make-up Referrals

I was wondering if you guys had any referrals for hair & make-up...is it typically one person that does both or would I have to hire for each? Also, should I have to pay for my BMs (there's only 3) to get their hair/make-up done too?

A tad about me. I AM NOT a girly girl. I never wear make-up EVER or jewelry. So, I'm looking for someone who is understanding & can make it look very natural and doesn't put a layer of crap on my face. I'm 1/2 German so I have  redish cheeks that I'm trying to tone down a bit on my day, cause it's pretty obvious when I'm embarassed (just in case something happens).

For hair - I wanted to fly in my hair stylist from GA but my mom is really pushing me to find someone local in the North Dallas/Denton area since we're planning on having the wedding at Ashton Gardens in Corinth.

Any help/suggestions are appreciated!

    Personally, I wanted someone that could do both my hair and makeup (since I don't have a regular stylist anyway) so I hired a wedding hair and makeup artist.  I used Kristin Colaneri and I loved her.  www.kcolaneri.com.  She also did my 15 year old tomboy daughter who had never worn makeup until my wedding day.

    If you would like to pay for your BMs, that is a lovely gesture but not required (unless of course, you are requiring that they have it professionally done).  Otherwise, just let them know who you are using and the cost once you decide and let them make the choice for themselves.

    Yes, I checked out the vendor list last night but I don't have a printer and was trying to avoid writing everyone's name down on one sheet of paper and then looking at the other list to see if they were on the other list too.

    I definitely prefer someone who can do BOTH make-up and hair as I think it would save a little bit of money. I did click on Kristen's link and about had a heartache when I saw the prices. For example:

    The Davis $760
    4 hair & 4 airbrush makeup
    or any 8 services
    2 artists
    3 1/2 hours

    Is that price the norm? I was wondering since I never get that stuff done, maybe I'm just having a sticker shock moment. Thanks for the help.

    Yeah unfortunately, Kristin is actually moderately priced.  Bridal airbrushed makeup here runs about $110 and hair starts around $75 and goes up.  Regular foundation would be cheaper, but Kristin doesn't do regular anymore I don't think.

    You might look at Haute Facade.  This is a salon that caters to brides and your whole party could go there, they give you mimosas, etc. and it looks really fun.  I didn't choose it because I wanted someone to come to me but you might look into it.

    Thanks SOO much for listing Haute Facade! These prices are soooo much more reasonable to what I was willing to pay for make-up/hair. Apparently, they will actually come to you now too. I'm a happy panda! TY TY!

    Oh yes, that is right--but I didn't have enough in my party for them to come to me as I only had 2 BMs.  But yes, they would have been my choice otherwise.  Glad I could help!

    I am using Angie Williams, and I really like her prices.  I'm paying for all my bridesmaids and my mom to get makeup, she is doing my hair, my mom's hair, and my sister's hair.

    She is who I used, and is so wonderful!! She will travel to you, and brings her assistant at no extra charge. My girls got the exact hairstyle they wanted and the makeup was not over the top. I felt that her pricing was extremely fair for what we got, she is so super sweet.

    If I were you, I would reach out to my BM's with the prices and give them the option to contribute if they are planning on having their hair and m/u professionally done. For my friends wedding in Kansas a few years ago, we went to MAC and they did our makeup for free with a $50 purchase, and I got an updo for $35, and her prices are right on track with what they may choose to spend anyway. I paid for my girls as a part of their gift, but that definitely isn't necessary. They may choose to have someone do it just for the overall convenience.

    I really like my make-up person, she is super-sweet and has great prices, and if you're not looking for anything fancy with hair she also does light hairstyling for $50/hour on top of the fee below. And she does airbrush for an extra $25 for you.

    Her make-up package C as of March 2011 was $425. (I think this one fits your needs best!)
    -pre-bridal event consultation
    -detailed trial run with artist or bridal portrait makeup application
    -wedding day makeup for bride
    -makeup services for 4 additional people
    -local travel within 40 miles of Dallas

    Thanks for the website; I just checked her out as well. I think Package C will be fitting.

    Is she doing your hair as well? If she is, do you mind sharing a pic? I don't think I'm looking to do anything fancy. Just half up/half down style.

    No I have somebody coming out to do my hair and the girls hair. Nicole is just doing my bridal make-up. The photos she has on her facebook page are pics of her hair work--I wanted to do something more elaborate or I would have had her do it... but she will send you pictures if  you contact her. She's super-sweet, but also very busy... so sometimes it takes her 24-hours to get back to you.
