I'm in your hood! lol
Actually, we were concerned that our flight for Tuesday night would be canceled so we were already thinking of what we could do. Since I've been to Dland SO many times, I was throwing around the idea of Knotts.....but Dland does have a kennel.....
Anyway, our flight is still on as of now, so I think I'll be in NY by Wednesday morning.

If you are doing Knott's, I highly highly HIGHLY recommend Pink's for lunch, and Mrs. Knott's Chicken Restaurant for dinner. The Pink's isn't quite the same as the one in Hollywood, but it's still one of the best hot dogs you'll ever have. And the chicken dinner at Mrs. Knott's is a four course meal for $16 (I think), and it's sooooo good.
Enjoy the weather while it holds! It's been pretty crappy lately.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

[QUOTE]WHOA WHOA WHOA! Crazy! I'm not sure how often I am THAT close to the theme parks, but my FIL lives literally 5 blocks from the original one. We actually have been using Yelp to find new yummy restaurants in LA right now....but not Anaheim. Anytime we drive by DH loves to tell me what rides he can see operating as a little jab that we're not stopping....so sad. The last time we were here, we went to Universal.....holy hell, that place sucks. We have the option to go another time, but I don't think the $15 parking is worth the half day's worth of lame.

We drove up to Nor Cal and back for Christmas and passed Disneyland both ways. Seeing the Matterhorn from the 5 and knowing we won't be stopping is always heartbreaking... :(

A word of warning from your friends at Cracked.com: Remember that text is going to be how you make your first impression over the internet; if every third word you type is misspelled, people will automatically assume that you're a moron.

Universal's on our SoCal bucket list, but I dunno. It's way overpriced and there's just not that much to do there. Though Citywalk does have the distinction of having one of only three true IMAX screens in the area, as I learned when trying to buy tickets to Tron.
Sadly, I don't have very many restaurant recommendations off-property. We use Yelp a lot, too, but I can never remember the good stuff. Though the Original Pancake House on Lincoln just past Raymond is ridiculously amazing. We've been to other locations and it's good, but it doesn't measure up to that one. I think it's the only restaurant where the staff recognize us.

[QUOTE]From/got married in Nor Cal, now in SD. You may be thinking of EmilyKathleen, who now lives there. You can cheat and check below my avatar ;) And the 5 is FAR FROM magic. Had he ever taken it between LA and Stockton? After the grapevine we cut over to the 99 and life got a little better. Hours of my life have been spent on the 5 in the middle of nowhere in the central valley, desperately wanted to stay near civilization this time.

The 5 in LA County is made of evil. No carpool, three lanes or fewer, gross and brown everywhere, blech. You can actually see quite clearly when you're in Orange County because the freeway is suddenly wide open and nice and clean... DH often picks me up from downtown if he's working late, and while it would be more direct to take the 5 straight home (we live directly next to it), it saves a good half hour to an hour to take the 110-91-5.
I kind of despise the drive up to Yosemite, not gonna lie.

[QUOTE]Ugh, skip Universal. It's in dire need of a redesign. The park is laid out horribly. DH actually mentioned that last time. The workers hate their lives, the attractions are outdated, etc. They still have a Terminator 3D live action show. The thing is SO bad....when the actor that plays Arnold came out, I actually started laughing because he looked NOTHING like Arnold. They need to retire that show and bring in something else. ALso Shrek 4D was not funny. The whole time we were waiting to get in and they were doing their little "before you go in, put your glasses on" pre show, DH and I kept looking at each other saying "at disney, this would be shorter, cuter, and funnier." Also, Universal is all about making movies, not making dreams....as "gay" as that sounds. In Jurrassic Park, the dinos are all ripped up from old age. Disney would NOT allow that to fly. Brooke, yes, I am a dummy for not looking at your location. DH's business partner lives there....we ALMOST made a trek there. Maybe another time.

Yikes, this bolded portion just sounds awful...
I'm sure you don't mean to sound bigoted, but you should know that when you use the word "gay" as a synonym for the words lame, silly, corny, etc. that is exactly how you come across. I know you're a regular poster and a "theater person" so I'm sure you don't mean it to sound that way. But you should know that it is never okay to use the word gay that way, ever. It is offensive.
[QUOTE]This is why I quoted it.....because I was not sure how it would go over. I was going to write lame, but lame could also be taken badly too.....just as retarded could.

You're right, all 3 of those words would have been poor choices, whether they're in quotes or not. Please try harder to use phrasing that isn't offensive next time.

I'm a fan of looking at intent when calling people out for things like this, rather than the mere fact that it was written, regs or not (I defended a brand-new poster in this regard a couple weeks ago and seriously pissed off the other reg who called her out for it, so I don't want to be accused of playing favourites). I would not have used that phrase myself, but I also don't think that this warranted a call-out, and calling out every little thing that could possibly offend someone else bums out the board and makes everyone hyper-sensitive. Save the call-outs for the people who really deserve them.

Just my two cents on the matter.

I doubt anyone who doesn't know Stina is going to randomly wander into a page to another poster and get offended by something. People shouldn't have to censor themselves among friends.
I haven't been to the Villa, but I do love the Getty. Their art is kind of blah (so... many... European... painters...) but the facilities are ridiculously awesome. My first screenplay had large chunks of it set at the Getty.

Brooke - your two cents are noted. I'm not calling someone out just for the sake of argument. Sorry if it "bums out the board".
Aerin - you're right, nobody should have to censor themselves among friends. So the next time you guys are private messaging please say whatever you want. If you post something on an international board its up there for anyone to see and comment on.
Stina - I acknowledged in my initial post that I was sure your intent wasn't to offend. I thought I was very gentle in pointing out that what you said was unacceptable.
I'll thank all of you not to tell me how to post on this or any other board. If I want to say something, I will. The bang comment got to you guys? By all means tell people you're upset. But please don't tell me not to comment on something just because you don't think that it warrants being pointed out.
