Dress Alterations

I bought my dress from David's Bridal and of course they recommend using only their alterations department.  I'm wondering if I could get my alterations done somewhere else that is reputable and would cost less.  For the most part, I only need a hem and to replace the zipper on the back with a lace up back.  Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm using Jeanne the seamstress here is her phone number : (407) 432-7336. I haven't seen the finished product yet, but she's been super helpful and def way cheaper then the bridal store where I got quotes from. Hope this helps I know there are a ton of reviews on these forums for several different seamstresses. Good Luck :)

Thanks for the tip!  Mind if I ask what kind of alterations you are having her do?

Jeanine gets a lot of good reviews here which is why I decided to use her.  I needed to have my dress hemmed, taken in on the sides, and a bustle done.  She is really nice and definitely a lot less expensive than David's Bridal quoted me, but I have to be honest and say that I wish I had just gone with David's Bridal.  I just got my dress back and I'm really not happy with it.  The bustle is uneven in the back and it makes the whole dress uneven when the bustle is done up.  This was Jeanine's third attempt at the bustle over the past 3 weeks.  I don't have a complicated dress; no beading, embroidery, or pick-ups.  I don't know why it's not right and I'm hoping other people don't notice it as much as I do.  You will probably have a lot of people say that Jeanine did a wonderful job with their gowns but I really wish I had just paid the exta $150 and taken it to David's Bridal.

Yikes.  Thanks for the heads up.  My hem is actually to lengthen the bottom and that will involve undoing several pick-ups.  I had completely forgotten about the bustle until you mentioned it!  I have also been thinking about adding some beading but I'm still on the fence with that.

I will say I had a bustle done and sleeves added to my dress and it was $45 at Davids Bridal. It didnt seem that much, but I didnt obviously get a ton done..
