Has anyone booked a reception at Airlie Gardens in Wilmington?

Hey there,

I'm thinking about booking my reception in Airlie Gardens but am worried about two restrictions: lack of private "facilities" and the only beer/wine policy. has anyone booked or held a reception at Airlie Gardens? How did your guests take the public bathrooms?

I didnt have my wedding there but I am a wedding photographer in Wilmington and I have shot A LOT of weddings there. The public bathrooms are not that bad. If you have your reception at night, you and your guests are the only ones that use them anyway. They clean them and get the bathrooms ready for you before your wedding starts too. It really is a beautiful place to get married. As for the beer and wine, thats really up to you. If you really want liquor, you might want to consider not getting married there.

I thought about using Arlie Gardens, I think it's beautiful there.

I don't see the issue with only having beer and wine, that's all we are having at our reception. But if it's that important to you to have liquor, then look somehwere else, there are plenty of places in downtown Wilmington that could accomodate that.

I work with someone who was married at Airlie and her photos are beautiful! I've been talking with her about wedding stuff because we are using the same caterer - her complaints about the wedding had nothing to do with Airlie, the bathrooms, or lack of liquor. And not serving hard liquor at your wedding may save you a bit of a headache in getting the liquor permits for the wedding. I don't think anyone will miss it - I'm only serving beer & wine at my wedding. Personally the beauty of Airlie outweighs those two things.
