Hi Ladies, hope you all are doing good and you are enjoying this beautiful Pittsburgh weather!
I was curious if any of you have had experience with turning a zip up gown into a lace up/corset back?
Here's what's going on with my dress that has me nervous. I had my first fitting 3 weeks ago and the dress at the top where the zipper comes together was about an inch too big. So the seamstress took it in an inch. Fast forward to last night when I go to try it on again and it's now an inch too small! It wouldn't zip up and my heart just sank! How do I gain 2 plus inches in my bust in three weeks? I haven't gained any weight. (she asked if I did multiple times though!) It was just such a frustrating experience. So they were just going to let it back out again that inch that they had taken it in.
So the entire way home I'm in tears just stressing over this. The wedding is in three weeks. I would have been picking up the dress on 12/22 before they close for the holiday break and not trying it on again until Jan 2, the wedding day. I kept having this vision of putting on my gown the day of and the zipper not going up, after all in just three weeks I fluctuated enough for it to not fit yesterday so whose to say that won't happen day of? Or if it was too big and was falling down all night?
So I made the decision to have them turn it into a lace up back. I had dress regrets all along for not going with that type in the first place so this is really giving me what I wanted all along. Of course there is a huge expense associated with this. But I feel better knowing that I'll have that wiggle room with making it tighter/looser as I need to on the day of the wedding.
Has anyone else done this with their dress?
thank you for letting me vent... last night was not a good night. I know the stress of the wedding (with Christmas right before it!) is just getting to me. Everything has gone so smoothly so far in the planning process. It just really stunk that the one thing to not go right is my gown!
sorry for the novel!
