Venue on Budget in St. Pete for 300 people?

We are going to be married on Oct. 21, 2012.  I know it's a year and a half away, but we are already having trouble finding a venue!

We would like to keep our budget to $20,000 for the reception.  We will have almost 300 people in attendance (we have huge families), and we definitely need a full sized dance floor.  So, wherever we go has to hold about 350, to account for that space.

Any suggestions? We don't love the Tradewinds... The Grand Plaza is too small, so is the Hyatt Clearwater and pretty much every other hotel or country club I have looked up!

I was thinking the Sirata, maybe?  Any other great locations that you all would recommend for our size and budget?  Advice would be greatly appreciated!

On that note, what do you think about outdoor beach weddings for 300 people?  Too difficult with that many chairs?

I would recommened banquet masters in pinellas park. I am doing a 5 course meal with an open bar for 60 people at $3,782.00 They have great food and steve is very nice and patient.

I am positive the Sirata is too small for your needs. Good luck!

Btw, that's a shame you don't like the Tradewinds. It's where we're getting married, and not only does the outdoor Breck Deck hold 350; the inside ballrooms combine to hold even more!

I understand hating that wreteched carpet, but with tables for 300 people covered by linens -- and 300 people on the floor -- that pattern will barely even show up!

Plus, they're the cheapest we found.

I highly recommend the Mirror Lake Lyceum in downtown St. Pete.  You can still have your ceremony on the beach and then have the reception there, but we had both our ceremony and reception there and it was beautiful!  It holds up to 500 I believe.  It is very reasonable and Brian, the owner, is such a huge help in the planning process!  I would recommend looking at it in person since the website does not do it justice.  GL!

PM me if you want pics or more info :)

@Ellen - Hey thanks!  My ridiculous attention to detail and love of researching can be a blessing and a curse.  I think there's an inner wedding planner just dying to come out! :)
