The Pros

Hi All,

I wanted to find out if anyone has personally used the pros and which services they chose...I've been seeing a bunch of different reviews from horrible to fantastic so I wanted to see if I can get more of a clean opinion from knotties who have personally had experience with them.

Thanks!

P.S. if you can remember the names of the individuals you used I'd appreciate it...for better or worse haha

If you search for 'The Pros' in the box below, a bunch of threads pop up.  A lot of the responses are from brides who used them.  Unfortunately this board doesn't get much traffic from married brides anymore, but you could try paging specific individuals from those threads and see if they respond.  You could also go to the Baltimore board on The Nest and ask there, since that's where most of the married ladies hang out :)

No, no, no, no, no! My friend did the special they're running now that was photos, videos and dj for just under $2000. It was terrible. They were pleased with the outcome of the photos, but they don't do any editing or touching up, and they don't touch the video at all. They just do fade ins and outs as they go and give it to you as is. It's not very polished. Plus the photographer was bossy, rude and extremely unprofessional. The videographer was talking while filming. And the DJ asked us to walk in Maid of Honor and Best Man first since that is the way the list was presented to him. After a bunch of hooplah, I suggested he read the list from the bottom up, which he agreed he could do. I personally would never use them after the experience I had with them. I've also read you don't always get the professionals you choose. They just send different people to your event without notifying you. I don't like dealing with big companies like that. I like to know exactly what to expect.

I have been on this board for awhile and I've never seen a bride post a positive review of them here.  Unfortunately, it is as pp mentioned.  There are so many talented photographers in the area, don't sell yourself short with a vendor like them.  All you have to remember your big day after it is over are the photos!

I've been to 3 different weddings with people who have used them and they loved them. I booked them for my wedding! There are so so so many vendors that they deal with throughout MD and PA (i believe) but if you go to one of their wine and cheese events you can personally talk to and choose who will be doing your wedding. I'm excited about my choices too. The video depends on which package you get. I'm just doing the raw footage which is no editing (because I don't really care about the video to be honest). My photographer is awesome and the DJ is super fun and both are very professional. I've chosen Rob Grant for photography and Edward (forget his last name) for DJ.

This is just my experience with them. Like I said I know people who have used them (and I was at their wedding) and they had good things to say. You'll see plenty of reviews with bad things to say as well. Go on wedding wire and you'll get lots of reviews on vendors.  I hope this helps some!

I had vowed to stop giving my opinion of the Pros on these boards because I felt like it just made me look cranky, but I do want to point out that a lot of brides complain that they were guaranteed a particular photographer/DJ, and then someone else (crappy) showed up.  So many, in fact, that I feel like it's a moot point to argue that you might find someone you really like at some event.

I say it all the time, and a PP said it above: there are so many other vendors that have excellent reviews in your budget, just ask for advice on these boards and you can rest easy about your choice.

Several friends of mine have used the pros and I have booked them too.  As far as not having the same photographer show up that you thought would, that only happens if you don't actually pick one to book.  We booked a girl name Talia (or something like that haha).  I will look in our files and get back to you.  Two of my friends have used her and I have seen there pictures -- they are great and much more affordable.

As far as unedited video, that is a choice in the package.  You can pick to have it editied, put to music, etc. or just have the raw version.  So, the outcome is completely up to you.  I say go for them; I am!

Eeeepppp!!! Do you mean Tali? She's the woman who shot my friend's wedding. Not to alarm you, but be prepared for her to be incredibly rude and negative to everyone in your bridal party. She doesn't work very quickly either. She also made us move for her during the ceremony. She was a tad bit disruptive. And really only got table shots from the reception. She only took one of every couple at the tables, and some came out blurry or people had their eyes closed. She's a bit of a hot mess. When we suggested different shots the bride take, she was incredibly negative and quick to answer why she couldn't get those shots. One of them being, I can't take a picture in the mirror because everyone will show in the background. Here's an idea, take it from a different angle or ask us to move. Seriously.

Weird...my two friends had her and their pictures are awesome.  I've met with Tali twice and she is definitely a tough cookie but I think that will be a good thing for us since our groomsmen are a bit silly.  She got fantastic shots of my friend's reception -- a lot of dancing and action shots.  The mirror shot is funny because that is actually my friend's favorite picture! I guess it just depends on the person?

Maybe we caught her on a bad day? I just certainly would never recommend her after the performance she had that day. Her belt kept falling off, she was boisterous and interruptive during the ceremony, aside from being downright rude to the wedding party and uncooperative. If anyone made any suggestions, she took it as a personal attack on her work. The reception also started an hour late because she had the bride and groom doing so many portraits. I would recommend trying to shoot portraits before hand or hammering out a schedule and sticking to it!
