Stonebrooke brides!

Hi there! I guess I didn't realize that if you have your reception at Stonebrooke and you don't have a certain number of guests, they let townies in and serve them supper or whatever. Kind of irked that this little fact wasn't made explicitly clear from the beginning and I'm especially irked because we're paying for a rental fee which I would assume would mean that the place is ours entirely.

So question – if you've attended a wedding reception or had your wedding reception at Stonebrooke, did you have any problems with outside people intermingling in your wedding? Drinking your free booze? Eating your cake? Photobombing your wedding pics? Hah.

Personally if I wandered into a place for supper and saw a wedding going on I'd walk back out and go somewhere else but that's just me.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :)

  • I'm not having my wedding at Stonebrooke, but that would irritate the crap out of me! You're paying to have the place to yourself regardless of your guest list size. Where did you find this out?

  • I'm actually having my wedding there within weeks. I found out maybe a week or so ago that part of the venue that's fairly separate from the rest would be kept open but I just found out today that because we didn't hit another guest minimum/limit/whatever that townies could now be sat in the bar area which will very much be a common area for our wedding guests.

It's a cute venue, it has great prices, the food is really really good and the event planner has been a dream to work with but man... oh well. We'll still be married with plenty of friends and family (and apparently strangers) surronding us.
  • I didn't have my wedding there, but if it was me, I would mention the concern about wedding crashers to your coordinator there, and ask what they do to prevent that from happening. I'm sure that everybody that works there keeps an eye out. Also, will the townies be dressed for a wedding? I would think they would stand out if they tried to crash.

You could also ask a couple of folks in the wedding party to keep their eye out for this, that way you won't have to think or worry about it yourself.

I bet it will be just fine. If it was me, I wouldn't spend a lot of time on this other than the above. Focus on your day and your wedding plans, and enjoy this time. Not everything is going to be perfect...everybody has a hiccup here or there. And accept them as that. I'm sure you'll have a great day.
  • We are having our reception at Stonebrook in September. Deb made it clear at our initial meeting that the bar area would be open to outside guests. She assured us that our alcohol would be kept separate and it wouldn't be a problem. I'm not too worried. The way I look at it, there are many venues (hotel ballrooms for example) where you run the risk of crashers. I hope it goes well for you and I would love to hear how it went after your big day!
