Chin Fat

Hi all!

I've been looking at this board on and off since we got engaged about a year ago and swearing that I would start actively participating but I always found an excuse.  Now we're two months out and I had my first shower last week and I'm just looking at the pictures....I have a double chin in every single one of them....

My problem is that with the wedding 2 months away, I've started fittings already and am really nervous about loosing a ton of weight.  Any suggestions?  I don't want to look at my wedding pictures and only see a double chin...

Thanks!

Re: Chin Fat

  • I don't know how much you weigh, but the extra weight in your face may well be just part of who you are.  I have a bit of a double chin, and it doesn't go away no matter how small I get.

The best thing you can do at this point is "practice" taking pictures.  Learn your angles.  Learn how to hold your chin out for pictures without stretching your neck too much.  Also, focus on pulling your shoulders back -- that helps, too.

  • I agree with PP.  There are certain angles that make anyone look like they have a double chin, so have FI or someone take pics at different angles.  Also, you could mention it to your photographer too.  They probably know some tricks to reduce it, and can also photoshop/correct photos if you choose.

Once upon a time, there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering.
  • I second talking to your photographer! I told mine about it during my engagement pictures, so she made a point of telling me every time to stick my chin out, and I am happy to report that in all of 156 engagement photos, I do NOT see the dreaded double chin. And trust me, it's there in real life pictures. It's like when we smile normally we think we should pull our chins in, only making it worse!

Good luck, and I'm sure your photos will turn out beautifully :)

  • double chin is due to poor photography. My photographer adjusted her angle regardless of the position I was in to get the right shot.... happy to say. no double chin in ANY of my wedding shots. I had a different photographer on my engagement pics and it was 50/50 on my double chin.

if you press your toungue to the roof of your mouth when you smile, it makes the chin fat appear smaller. Practice in the mirror though as it feels strange at first. :)
  • -Tell your photographer that you're concerned about that she/he/they will be more careful regarding your insecure spots

-Bronzer on the sides of your neck and under your chin will give the illusion of a slimmer neck/chin.

Those are really the only two things I can say will be effective without you working out to lose the excess fat.. but it can never hurt to add more cardio to your fitness routine just to be healthier :o)
  • Thanks everyone!  Really helpful!  I have another shower this weekend and I can practice different things...If I think about it! =)  And I'll talk to my photographer too!

  • The tongue on the roof of your mouth really does help! It tightens everything up! But also, do talk to your photographer and watch your angles.
