So, I went to David's Bridal last Saturday. I was very stressed and overwhelmed about dress shopping. I basically just shut down and went through the motions. My mom really wanted me to find something that day so that we could just get this over with (my sentiments exactly!).
Since we both usually don't agree on clothing very well, lol, we both browsed all the dresses on the website up to the highest price range I was willing to go to. I added ones to my favorites so that they could print it out there. Unfortunately I didn't realize that the "online" meant online only - apparently neither did my mom.
So when we got there, I don't think I was able to try on a single one that I wanted to try on.
It was a rather depressing trip, to be honest. I tried on the last one in which I felt the most comfortable. Wasn't in love with it, but out of everything else, it was the best. I felt really pressured to get it - between trying to decide on something that day and the consultant saying that I pretty much had to get it that day as she wasn't sure if they'd have it later if I didn't. So I put it on layaway - with the veil (that I originally wasn't planning on getting) and accessories (might as well get it all over with) and a preservation kit.
I was really bummed afterwards. A few days later I decided I needed to try on some dresses elsewhere. Aside from the fact that I spent TRIPLE what I wanted to spend in th e first place, I also didn't want to end up spending triple of what I planned and not love it.
So I browsed the Alfred Angelo website and found some favorites - there was only one that I absolutely LOVED and actually said that was the dress I wanted (before even seeing it in person or trying it on).
We went today, and I tried on some
really expensive dresses just for fun (I was actually looking forward to this shopping experience as opposed to the last one in which I was dreading going). Every single one that I tried on (with the expection of one) I felt better in than any one I tried on in DB.
The one that I had told them was my absolute favorite was saved for last, and it was still my favorite, so I decided to get it!

My mom isn't a fan of color in a dress (I was debating, but I felt confident about this one).
So yeah, I ordered it today - the color will be in eggplant (not the pink that I tried on). My mom really wanted me to just get it in all white, but later saw someone dressed in white shorts and a deep purple top and decided that I made the right choice after all lol
So I'm glad to have gotten this out of the way; DB dress canceled. I spent more on this dress, but also received a discount. Also, with how I'm going to handle the rest (veil & accessories), it should still come out cheaper than the final total at DB.
Then hopefully within the next couple of weeks, both FSILs and I should be heading back up there to look at their potential BM dresses - I've already shown them the dress that I really like and they seem to like it, so hopefully they'll feel the same after they try them on (though I already told them not to feel obligated or anything - if they don't like them or feel comfortable in them, we can look for something different).
