I NEED HELP!

If I could have made that text in the subject line any bigger, I would have!

I need to find a new venue.NOW!

Here's the story:  Our hotel had a small fire a couple of weeks ago. No big deal.  Damaged a few rooms, I was told the convention center was fine, and that my wedding would not be afftected.

Until about 10 minutes ago.  Now, it will NOT be open in time for my wedding on July 24.

I am FREAKING out!  Everything is made, STDs are out... EVERYTHING I have says July 24 on it.

This place was perfect for us!  We were only paying $22 per person (bar not included).

So, what I need is some recommendations.  I'd like to keep the food to about $30 pp.  HOLY MOLY!

I think you need a SHEET, not a moly for that one.
How many people and what type of locations/ area?
  • edited December 2011
We've got 175 on the list.

I want to have ceremony/reception all in the same place.

It's July- so outside is not so much an option.

And, I don't even think a SHEET will help me right now.

In Orlando or on the coast?

AWWW SHEET....I would call your original venue to find out if they can recommend any places...esp. because they are leaving you in the lurch, they probably feel bad and will want to make sure they help you out if possible. I know the LMEC has an indoor ceremony area that seats 150 I believe (maybe more?) and depending on the caterer you go with, you might be able to stay under 30 a person(??). Sorry I'm not much help, I dunno really anything about other venues besides mine. I would just call around and see what is available for your day, and then visit/narrow them down after that. GL!

at this point, either one is okay. I don't care.  I need somewhere within budget... and that has my date.

    Holy SHEET!

    Aww man...SHEET!!!!

I would recommend my place but im getting married outside. I just chose to have it later as opposed to in the middle of the day. Plates start at 37 though...maybe too high? Ceremony and reception are at the same place though!

OMG!!! I am so sorry!  I'll think about places but I really have no idea about places with ceremony and reception in one place.  I do know that puff n stuff is doing my catering for 30 pp (I am having a sit down dinner, dual entree- chicken and beef, and that I bet it would be less if it was just chicken).

Well first off I am so sorry :( The only things I would suggest is to first of all get recommendations from your original venue or possibly hire a wedding coordinator. It might be beneficial and better for your stress level if you have someone else call around and figure out pricing and what not. I know some wedding coordinators are cheap, but there also might be students from Rosen that study event planning that would be super cheap and would want to put this in their portfolio. HTH :)

Thanks for all the help, girls.

Here's what I have so far:

The ONLY other hotel that my hotel is affiliated with is a HI Express in Melbourne.  They MOVED all of my info to that hotel, but set the date as July 31, because they did not have the 24 available.

I have a call in to my DOC. I am hoping to hear from her tonight/tomorrow.

I have a few calls in to places.  Waiting for call backs.  The two places I HAVE talked to DO NOT have the 24 available, but dates around it.  So, IF I change my date, I need to make sure my vendors can come with.  THAT is what I am freaked out about the most.... LOSING MY VENDORS.

LMEC is out of the question.  That was one of the people that I talked to, and they're completely booked.  She was uber nice though, and gave me some recommendations.

    (deep breath)

Hopefully tomorrow will bring some good news.  For now, I am going to watch the Magic game. Maybe THAT will cheer me up :-)

I'm not sure where you can do it for that pp, but hopefully, you can find something soon.

    Sending good vibes your way!

    I'm so sorry!
Here are a few thought...I have no idea of price but suggestions...
    Highland Manor in Apopka
Citrus Club, Downtown Orlando-you do not have to be a member
Dubsdread Ballroom @ Dubsdread Golf Course, Orlando
Sending you good vibs and tons of luck with this!

Yeah, i figured LMEC was booked because they book out on Saturdays about a year out. Maybe also look for the 23rd and 25th because if ppl are already have flights then that would be a bit easier for everyone. I'm so sorry girl, this sucks!!

I hope the Magic don't stress you out more than they help! I'm glad they won last night, especially since one of my best friends is from Miami! lol

    Forgot to add:
Holy Trinity Reception Center, Maitland. Apparently it's newly redone and nice.
The History Center, Downtown Orlando. Very different.
    GL!

Holy Trinity is nice, if you are interested I have all the pricing somewhere we looked at it. You said you wanted both in the same place though, and they have a big pavilion you can rent and decorate for a ceremony, but it would be hot as heck in July, and the ballroom is nice, but no room for 150 ceremony and reception.

Our hotel is the Orlando north Hotel in Maitland, we also looked at Embassy Suites in Altamonte that was nice and the Hilton.

    Thanks for the recs. girls!

I have a few calls into some local places (in Cocoa and on the beach) that I had originally looked at when we were on the hunt for a venue.

I'll be checking these out too!

Pricewise, Dubsdread is within your price range. The event manager there is really nice and willing to negotiate for Summer weddings. We're getting married at Highland Manor in Apopka  and its beautiful, but its a little more expensive.
