Unity Sand Ceremony?

Has anyone been to a ceremony where they used sand instead of candles?  I came across a few kits and think this may be better than candles since the ceremony is outside.  If you've been to one how exactly did it go?

    I found a great unity ceremony option for our wedding last October! UnityInGlass.com. You choose the colors of glass crystals to combine in your ceremony and the glassblowers turn it into a gorgeous glass sculpture! We get tons of compliments on ours!
