Has anyone else taken dance lessons in preparation for their first dance? My FH wanted to take lessons, so we've been taking private lessons for about 3 months now. We had picked our first dance song (You are the Best Thing - Ray LaMontagne), and our instructor selected a suitable dance style (West Coast Swing) to go with the song and we just finished learning the full routine. Now for the refinement. We have 18 days before the wedding, so now we've got loads of practicing to do before the big "show"!
We've really enjoyed the process and will continue taking lessons after our wedding and learning new dance styles. I'd highly recommend it, especially if you are a DWTS fan (I wasn't, but now watch here and there).
For anyone interested, our instructor Jeff is hosting a Wedding Dance Boot Camp in June. We'd go just for the fun of it, if it weren't the day after our wedding! LoL! I think it is a great idea if you want your first dance to look a little nicer than a junior high prom slow dance!
Definitely great if you can't take a ton of lessons, you can learn some great moves in a few hours.
