Hispanic Wedding help

Hello Ladies. I'm Puerto Rican with a very traditional family. In hispanic weddings they don't call matron of honors by that title but instead call them madrinas and she is the person that signs the marriage license as a witness. However for my wedding I will be having a matron of honor and a maid of honor. I've decided to go the American way and use the English terms for them. My question for any other hispanic Knotties out there is, traditionally the madrina wears a different dress or shade of color to distinguish her from the rest of the bridesmaids. I want both my matron and maid of honors wearing the same color and then the other bridesmaids in our 2nd wedding color. However my Mom keeps fighting with me that, that is not correct and untraditional. She wants me to have just my matron of honor wearing something different. I know in the end I have to do what I want but since I am having a traditional wedding with everything else I want that to be the same as well. So am I completely wrong for wanting my 2 MOHs wearing the same thing?

  • I think a good rule of wedding planning is its all about you and your husband. Do what you want. Its YOUR wedding, not your mom... sorry mom!
  • Yep do what you want, unless your mother is paying for the dresses.

toally agree.... its totally fine in having your matron and maif of honor in same colors and the bridesmaids in the 2nd. if your mom is still fighting then maybe if you can compromise in having a slight difference between the matron and maid like one has something special in her hair or an added sash or something like that. but ultimately it is your wedding! =)
    congrats by the way!!

  • I agree with PP, totally fine to have both MOHs in the same thing and the other BMs in something different.
