Hawaii Honeymoon

Hello Everyone,

I was hoping to get some advice/input about a honeymoon in Hawaii.  We are looking to go for 2 weeks in May (though, my future brother-in-law lives on Maui so we only need a weeks worth of lodging).  If anyone has any input on where to go or stay on any island it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank You!

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon

  •  I've been to Oahu, Lanai, Maui, and Kauai and each experience is vastly different from one another. What types of things are you looking to do? What is your budget for lodging on the other island? Also, check out gohawaii.com as well for some great info on the islands.

    I've stayed:
    Kauai: Westin Princeville
    Lanai: Four Seasons Manale Bay
Oahu: Hyatt Waikiki and Hilton Hawaiian Village.

My fav island: Lanai or Kauai
    Least fav: Oahu

Again those are my preferences. I do not like large cities, crowded areas, shopping, etc. I do like smaller more intimate resorts, secluded islands, laid back atmosphere

  • We went to Maui and stayed at the Ritz Carlton. Reviews, what we did, and pics in my bio.
  • We actually just came back from Hawaii on Sunday. We have two children and after searching gohawaii.com, I found Oahu was the best Island for children attractions. We stayed at the Aston Waikiki Beach hotel and it was great, literally across the street from the beach. Next time I think I’ll go to Maui for the secluded private resorts.

  • Thank you all so much! We're definitely looking to relax and be bums for part of the time, but we also want to do some exploring.  Since we're going for 2 weeks I would like to be a bum for the 2nd half of the week.  We're definitely looking for beach, relaxation, cocktails and good food!

I'd go to Kauai or Lanai then. Kauai is probably the better fit if you want to dine around outside of the resort. Poipu is the sunnier, drier side of the island, but it's not drastically rainy or anything in Princeville. Check out the Grand Hyatt in Poipu or the St. Regis in Princeville. Again, not sure of your budget, though. I think the Grand Hyatt sounds like a good bet, though. If you want to be super lazy, pampered, and have good resort dining, check out the Four Seasons Manale Bay in Lanai. Fantastic!

  • We could not decide so we are going on the Norwegian Cruise to three of the islands and before hand staying in Honolulu for a few days. On the cruise two of the ports you stay over night. It's like a moving hotel LOL

  • We are heading to Hawaii for 2 weeks in June and based on others rec's and our own research we are doing Oahu for 1night/2days (we really wanted to see Pearl Harbor and since our flight has to connect through there anyway, we decided to stay for 1 night) Then we are heading to Kaui for 5 days and then Maui for 6.  We are staying at Hyatt's on all three islands, as we have a Hyatt Credit Card and were able to use it for free nights/upgrades etc.  Most people that I've spoken to have said Maui has the most to do but Kauai was their favorite, looking forward to checking them all out!
