Rustic Venue

For the past couple months we've been looking at venues for out October 2012 wedding. The wedding will be taking place in the Lancaster area so the closer the better. We're wanting a more rustic venue that will accomadate between 135-150 guests. I've had a really hard time finding such a place. We'd' also like the option of bringing in our own caterer which seems about impossible. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Hmm, there's a place in Pickerington called Hickory Lakes, although I'm not too good at really deciding what 'rustic' is.

Is the information but it is tragically outdated.  I contacted them through email for my tour.  They were very responsive and helpful and the place looks a thousand times better than the grainy photos on their website.

I ended up going with the Everal Barn in Westerville, as it seemed to suit what I wanted more and I fell in love, but I liked that place as well.

Here are some pictures when we visited Hickory Lakes.  You can bring your own caterer (from a list of preferred vendors), but you buy all alcohol through Hickory Lakes.

Some other options could be Cheers Chalet (though I think you need to use their catering) http://www.cheerschalet.com/index.php

Alley Park in Lancaster has a beautiful room, too.  My caterer's website used to have a picture of the inside, but I can't find it anymore (the picture below is of the outside).  You can't have alcohol there, either... http://www.lancasterparks.com/Alley_Park/alley_park.html

We've looked into Alley, but in the contract it says that it will only seat 135 for reception seating. Not sure that this even takes into consideration things like a DJ and food tables.

    Thanks for the help!

We liked the looks of White Star Farm in grove city before i fell in love with our venue.  However, it might be a bit out of the way from Lancaster.

You might want to look at a new venue that has just opened in Lancaster.  If you google Little Brook Meadows in Lancaster you'll find the website.  I haven't been to a wedding there however I've heard great reports and it's definitely a new option for rustic weddings in this area.

We're getting married on a farm in Lancaster and having the party there too. It's a brewery on an old horse farm. It's beautiful. They don't really do this publicly very much (we're friends), but you can use any caterer and bring your alcohol. The rental fee is very expensive though and you'll also have to rent tables, chairs and a tent if you want a seated dinner. (We're not having a seated dinner so we're using the house but you couldn't fit that many people in it.)

If you're interested, send me a message and I'll give you the info.

I have seen the pictures and the website for Little Brook. I think we'll look at it, but from the pictures it almost looks like the floors are dirt in the barn. I want a rustic feel, but dirt floors may be much!

I  attended a wedding  this summer at the farm Megan888 referenced above,  outside of Lancaster.  It was an incredible setting and quite unusual for our area.  I'd suggest having plenty of golf carts to ferry people about - it was wet during our day there and quite a struggle for many of the guests to move about.  The wedding I attended used a large tented area near the lake for the reception.

Little Brook Meadow is very nice but I couldn't afford the rental fee.  We are having 200+ guests.  I'm still in search of a rustic place to have our wedding.  We would love to get married in a barn or on a farm somewhere but haven't been successfu finding one.  We could get married next to our farm in the neighbors field but he has quite a bit of "Junk" to walk by to get back to the field.  I don't want it to be trashy.  We have also looked at the Barn at the Backwoods but we couldn't bring our own caterer.  Bummer.  I would be very satisfied to have a rustic/country wedding in a barn somewhere and just have the reception at a VFW or something.  I would be very interested in the place that Megan888 referenced.  We are having an August 25th, 2012 wedding.
