Washington-Seattle

how long are you staying?

Are you closing down the party at your reception? Or are you leaving early?

The place we're getting married is a family friends place, and they have a "guest house" that we call the "casita", and we were planning on staying there, in the casita. My problem is, is it weird to close down the party? or do we "have" to leave early? if we leave "early", it would be kinda weird, since we're right there. And, i figure since it's our shindig, and it only lasts one day, i want to enjoy it as much as possible. but is it weird to not have a "grand exit"? i'm so confused!!

one DJ that i interviewed/checked out his website, said how sad it was to him that the couple stays until the party's over... and that has made me self-conscious since. What do you think????

**i hope i make sense... i may have had a couple glasses of wine tonight. :) **

Do whatever you want.  Its your wedding.  I agree, if you're staying there, it may be weird to leave early.  Its nice to have an exit, but that can be at the end of the night as long as there are still other people there.  It may be weird if you're the LAST ones.  But, you can stay 'til the end w/ some of your guests and then the ones that are left can send you off.

Our reception will be over at 10 (pretty early) and I plan to stay to the end, and then do s'mores on the beach w/ whoever's still there.  Then a sparkler exit.

I think either way is fine.  I have been to weddings where the couple closed down the party at the very end and I have seen where they made a grand entrance.  I am undecided on what we are doing.  I spoke to my DJ about it and he said that we really don't have to decide until the night of.

Um, get a new DJ?  I love it when the couple stays till the end of the party.  I'm a huge stay till the end person - you just never know when something fun or funny will happen!

We're hosting the party after the reception dinner at our inn, so we'll definitely be shutting it down.  When it comes to this kind of stuff (things that don't affect guest comfort), I think of a line from SATC (the first movie) - write your own rules.

So, do what you want, and have fun doing it!

We're staying till the end. We get the room till 1am and pretty much half the guests are staying at the venue along with us. So I don't see anything wrong with staying and visitng and just partying!
Don't listen to that DJ, I kinda think that's a rude thing to say if you ask me!

I agree with PP, stay till the end if you want! I figure this is probably the only time that we will have this many people that we love together in one room and I want to enjoy it for as long as I can. I'm not sure why a DJ would say that, it seems like that could turn off some potential clients to me.

We're leaving at 9:30 and the party ends (band stays) until 10. We want a grand send off with sparklers and have older guests that would for sure leave by 9:30 no matter what time the party was over.

We're staying till the end, but the end is 10.  And then we're leaving/having a big exit because the music has to be off then, so that'll be everybody's cue to get out!  lol

But yeah, like PP said, do whatever you want.  It's your wedding!

don't worry... i didnt hire that dj. the DJ we have will play til the party's over... whatever time that is. and my family is a bunch of partiers <3.

im glad that no one else thinks its weird for us to stay til the end. granted, all our friends are going to be staying at another guest house next to my parents place, and im sure the party will go all night there. lol.

this is the best thing about having our wedding at a family friends' house...we dont have to follow any time rules!!

and to whoever talked about the s'mores.... instead of having a candy buffet, we're doing a "s'mores" buffet with all different kinds of chocolate, graham crackers, etc.

thanks for making me feel better, everyone! i appreciate it. i just dont want anyone to look at us like its weird that we're closing down the party. but then again, its our party, dang it! i dont want to miss anything!!!

Our wedding is on a Sunday, so we are done at our venueby  9pm. We'll stay till the end, and plan on having a little afterparty at the hotel bar where our wedding block is afterwards (if we aren't too tired) :)

Debating.  It will end at 10 anyhow.  But our flight leaves at 6am the next day.  But we might pull an all-nighter and maybe go party with the other guests in Bellevue or Seattle or something.  We'll see.
