Please make suggestions. Fan program help. PIP

My mom and I are making fan programs. This is the first one she made. I like it, but it seems like it's missing something. She did use a glitter pen on the edges of the white paper and on the back. Our colors are turquoise, ivory, and black. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • I really like all of the pictures, and maybe you could mix it up with half of the fans blue and the other half ivory.

I would just make sure the glitter is not going to flake off onto to the ladies dresses...

    Maybe a longer ribbon...?
  • I really like them but I agree with janeneo about the ribbon.  Maybe make it a bit longer and try a different ribbon, maybe something that ins't transparent?
    Other than that, looking good.

  • I think it looks great! It probably looks plain to you because there's no text on it yet. I don't know if the ribbon needs to be longer, but I would go for a thicker ribbon. A thin one just tends to get lost. Once you get some text on there it will look better :) what color font are you using? Maybe you could even spruce things up by using a stamp at the top of the page in a color opposite to the color of the text. Let's say you have black text so you can use a white/ ivory stamp of your monogram or any other symbol you like. Something like that could help make things pop as well! :)
  • I agree with Nati, it will look less plain once you print on it. So far, it's looking great!

Another idea is to print or stamp something on the back (the teal part). You could do this on the last (bottom) panel for ppl to see when the fan is collapsed, or you could do on all of them. You could stamp a monogram or just a design... there are lots of options out there!

  • I used small brad pins to secure mine instead of ribbon.  Maybe that would make the panels move more smoothly?  I was able to find them in lime green so I am sure that they would have turquoise somewhere.

Also, maybe if you vary the background colors like do some with a black background and turquoise paper they will look more interesting when you place them in the basket at the ceremony.

Here are mine.  I got a big book of assorted cardstock at AC Moore so they will mostly look different.

  • Looks good! I like the suggestion of alternating colours. I'm doing the same thing but my colours are turquoise and green, so half my fans will alternate navy blue and turquoise, and half will be navy blue and green.

  • I am actually making programs fans for my ceremony as well.  These look great though.  If you really think they need a little pazazz... what about adding a monogram or image to the front or a fancier ribbon?
  • I love the look of those.  I actually am doing the same ones as you and am procrastinating starting them.  I also used scrapbook paper books like Penny to get a bunch of different designs.

I agree with all of this!   I also like the idea of using a big brad instead of the ribbon!  I think they will open & close better, etc.  Check out Michaels if you have one nearby.  They have tons of different options and they have a 40% off coupon almost every single week & you can get it on your phone if you have an android one so you dont have to worry about forgetting it!

  • Thank you all for such great suggestions. I will try alternating colors and try a monogram to see if that helps. My mom just suggested getting a different ribbon so it looks like we'll be doing that already.

Penny we did use the eyelets to make it move smoothly, but just added the ribbon to give it a little something more.  BTW I love your programs! They are so colorful.
