Photographer suggestions??

Hi everyone,
I am just starting to plan my wedding and am looking for a really good photographer, hopefully for under $5K.  Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks

i completely love my photographer--Diana Bezanski. She does an incredible job at capturing the joy of the day--everyone is smiling in all of her photos! she has some packages that are lower than 5K. check her out at www.DiBezi.com and www.DiBezi.net.

I love my photographer. He is from Albany, but he offered a style I felt was really unique at a reasonable price (definitely under $5k). You can check his blog out at mattramosblog.com.

I recommend Kimberly Coccagnia. She is definetely under $5K and AMAZING!!! Our wedding isn't until August but we did our engagement shoot (which was free) and we have 200+ amazing photos. Please check her out, you will NOT be disappointed. Her style is photojournalistic!

Jimmy Ryan (www.jimmyryanphotography.com) did our wedding and e-pics.  He's amazing and such a joy to work with.  Plenty of pics in my bio and full review there as well.

Bill Walsh, owner of Stellaview Studios (based in NJ but he shoots throughout the tri-state and only charges for toll/parking).  Well under $5k, very responsive, good mix of photo journalistic and artistic.

Any specifications?  Are you looking for someone who's a photojournalist type?  Or instead someone who does very hip, stylized stuff?  There's such a wide variety when you're up in the $5k area.

    Roberto Falck does amazing stuff.
Angelica Glass is very stylized and fresh.
Henry Chan does cool photojournalist stuff... all around $5k or less for full-day.

Don't use Sarah Merians - they were awful. In a nutshell, the photo/album quality was poor, they were unresponsive after the wedding and tried to charge us extra at every turn. Ultimately, they refused to give us the high res digital images that were included in our contract unless we paid an extra $1500. We had no choice (they were our wedding pictures...) so we paid and then successfully sued to get the money back. The reviews on Yelp.com describe similar experiences.

Has anyone used Bella Pictures for their wedding day photographer?? I am getting ready to sign a contract with them but alittle nervous because they are a "big corporation" photography vendor. Have read so many reviews on them but all from out of state.  Would like to know if anyone has ever used them here in NYC and what was your experience like?

In response to Bella Pictures - I have really mixed feelings about them and am starting to have second thoughts. Before I go on - I have to say that I have not received a finished product as my wedding is in June so I cannot speak for their product but have had issues with the customer service (which is one reason I am awake at 4:30 this morning unable to sleep ha....) The huge draw for Bella is the assignment process which I thought would save me time and research as well as full rights and access to all wedding proofs delivered on CD and through an online gallery that you can print through snapfish, etc. No obligation to buy prints or albums through this company.

They are currently my photography choice and as we've followed the contractual payment schedule - we're all paid in full. Only problem is we haven't received a single "service" from them and have never gotten an answer on the "direct" extension I've been given for my rep. Always a call-back 1-2 days later. Also keep in mind - they are on a different time zone since they are based in California. Most times they will call me back in the evening hours - not a big deal for me.

We were originally impressed with the company presentation and liked the idea of being "assigned" a photographer from a pool of choices in Baltimore. They have you rate pictures and get an idea of your style. We had them change the contract to reflect that we'd like to meet with our photographer more than 1-week out of our wedding since we do not live in Bmore and would need to book airfare, etc. We were switched reps mid-way through this year and of course that agreement/ e-mail chain/ information did not make it to our current rep who has told me the last three weeks she has been working to match us with a photographer. Anyone who has a wedding in June most likely has a photographer scheduled so I am a little shocked that we have not been put on a photog's calendar by now?

Bella came highly recommended by the hotel we are using and The Knot rated so I am still holding out hope that I am in good hands and that the photographer we are assigned exceeds where Bella has failed in the customer service department. Honestly, I went forward with this assigned photographer process so there would be less research for me to do and thought it would be stress-free if they matched me based on their assessment. I am hoping this wasn't a mistake!

Anyone who went through Bella in Baltimore - feedback?
