New to the knot!

Wow. So there is so much information on here. I don't know where to begin.
Any suggestions on Florist? Photographer? DJ? Venues?

Thank you in advance for any help!

You have an excellent florist in the Baltimore area, www.thecenterpieceplace.com call 2404093635 and ask for Melissa, she gets booked up fast, we've had a great experience with her.

Photographer - We're using Stephanie Miller Photography (smillerphotography.net).  But you might get more specific help if you figure out what type of photography you're lookng for and maybe a price range.

Venue - We're using Liriodendron in Bel Air.  I also liked Fiore Winery.  Other than that, we mostly looked in PA.  Again, that depends on what you are looking for, price range and guest list size.  Check out alexandramezzo's "Knottie Reception List" a few posts down though for places to look.

Milly, do you have any vendors besides Melissa?  Come on now, you've got to have at least a caterer or venue!

lovethe beach -   I'm open to anything right now.  Appx 250 guests. Thinking a venue somewhere in Baltimore?  No idea about theme or colors, except for bridesmaid dresses are going to be orange, i think.  As for my budget, it's whatever i can afford....especially when I get my tax refund!

flyingmilly - thanks for the info!

Do you know if venues have their own caterers? or can I bring my own caterer to any venue?

    Thanks ladies!

Some venues have in house catering, some have a list of caterers who are permitted and others allow you to use any caterer.  You'll probably want to nail down a budget before you start looking at venues.

Welcome!  You've gotten some good advice so far.

Like others have said, the best thing thing to figure out first is an approximate budget. It's not good to start looking at venues/dresses/photographers just to fall in love with something and realize you can't afford it.

After that, the very first thing I picked was my date and venue, because once you have those two pieces, it becomes a little easier to book your other vendoes.

if you go to My Checklist at the top of TheKnot, I found it really helpful with giving me an idea of when to do things.

    Happy planning =)

Congrats and welcome to the boards!
As previous people have suggested it is best to start with a date and budget. I would also look at alexandramezzo's Knottie Reception List you can get a variety of places from that list alone.
Photographer- I'm using Jenni from Forever-Yesterday. She's a commonly suggested/recommended photog here. Along with Jen Lowe, she's another favorite.
DJ- I'm using Tom Gavin's DJ Delights. So far so good with him.
    Florist-Vienna's Flowers (silk flowers)

Good luck with starting on your planning!

Congrats and welcome!  You have gotten some good advice so far from the ladies.  I have vendors in my bio - the "Mrs"link under my wedding picture below.  I absolutely loved my photographer - Jen Lowe (she was fabulous!).  I also really liked my venue but it is too small for your guest list (Ceresville Mansion is max 150).  Good luck and happy planning!

Gotta love that tax return time!!!

Ceresville Mansion i amazing, we've been there a few times for other weddings and they are excellent.  Actually, they have a really helpful book that they'll give you with a bunch of information about local vedors, photos, ideas and other information.  Call and ask for Alison or Jenni, both are really nice people.  I think that they're on www.ceresville.com
