Menswear question

Okay ladies we are going this week to finally pick out what the guys are wearing. So ive been thinking and looking at pictures and it seems about 50/50 where the groom either matches the rest of the guys in the wedding party or he wears something different. So im totally torn as to which way I want to go. I know he wants to have some color and not just be black and white and we were planning on having the guys wear navy vests and ties to match the bridesmaids. Our other color is silver sooo should we do groom in silver groomsmen in navy, groom in navy groomsmen in silver, or all guys in navy? And what are your guys doing all matching or groom different? TIA for all help and suggestions!

Hmm.. honestly I am not a fan of black and navy together, though I know a lot of people do it and it works great. They are just too similar to me, but again that is just my opinion. So if your BMs are wearing navy dresses, I would suggest having the guys wear grey/dark grey tuxes or suits with navy vests. I think that'd look really sharp. That way, if your other color is silver, having the guys in grey suits/tuxes sort of takes care of that, KWIM?

FTR, my FI will be in the same outfit/vest/everything as the GMs. Our colors are pink and yellow. We are doing pink dresses for the BMs and grey suits for the guys (see, I'm partial haha) with yellow vests.

I also like the gray tuxes, and we are using them. Our colors are yellow, navy and gray(our bridesmaids are also in navy.) We haven't 100% narrowed down the exact look but I'm thinking of putting the groomsmen in gray vests and a navy tie. I'm just not a fan of the whole vest/tie matching the bridesmaid dress to a T, makes me think of prom. As far as the groom, not really sure of his look yet. Definitely going to have him different though.

I like the idea of the dark grey with the navy. Does your FI have a preference as to what he wears?

For us, we haven't picked out our menswear yet, but my FI is pretty particular about this, so we'll be collaborating together heavily on this (it makes me laugh, because 95% of the time, my FI could care less about what he wears, how things look design wise, etc. But he has lots of opinions about what we do with the wedding). I'm almost positive we'll be doing black tuxes, and the groomsmen will have cornflower blue ties and maybe vests to match the BM dresses, and I think my FI will wear ivory, to match me. He likes the idea of wearing something different.

GL! We're going to pick out tuxes next Sunday. We keep rearranging our schedule for this, but I put in in pen on our calender now, so we can't reschedule anymore.

Our main color is purple, with charcoal accents, and I was really pushing for dark grey tuxes. The compromise was black tuxes with charcoal vests. FI will have a matching charcoal tie, and GMs will have a purple tie to match the BMs. We just decided everything this week, and boy does the grey and purple together look sharp! We obviosuly want FI to not look out of place, but we think him having a different tie color is just enough to set him apart.

We are probably going to go soon. I think ours will all be wearing the same because they all like black and the other color is sage green, so they will probably have sage green vests. None of them want to wear pink which is the other color. The bridesmaids are wearing sage green dresses. The groom's boutonniere will be different from the groomsmen/bridesman at least.

If your FI is set on doing black tuxes, I would suggest silver vests for the guys. Or maybe have them in a slightly blue-er navy, like a royal blue? I just don't think the navy will stand out as much as the silver would against the black tuxes, but then again some people like to do black on black (vest and tuxes), so it really depends.

We went yesterday. And I didn't know, just like you, what FI should wear. What we ended up getting was fuschia vests and ties for the guys, ivory vest and tie for FI, and out fathers are wearing black. All these are the same design and print, just a different color. It looks so good together!
