I gotta know...

FI and I are registering at BB&B and Sears. Without getting into the messy story, we've decided that I should take care of the BB&B registry with my mom and sister's help (and FI wont be included) and that FI and I will do the Sears registry together because he is more interested in the household appliances (vaccuum cleaner, etc). Feels weird to have him completely uninvolved but there is no way we can register together.

Re: I gotta know...

  • I'm not really sure what you're asking.  Is this because you are unable to agree on stuff?  Because if it's any sort of logistical issue I would just do the registry online, or at least let him look at stuff online to suggest it before, and review the registry after.

  • Thats actually what I think I'll do, good idea. He can just review it all online. He just isnt interested in it at all and doesnt understand why I would register for things he "already has".
  • are you registering for upgrades of his older stuff?  If so, I guess as long as he's okay with you doing it without him, then go for it.  But just remember these are gifts for both of you, so he should like them also (if he cares at all, that is).  FI and I did our registries together and it was really fun to pick out stuff we liked together.
  • Yes, mainly upgrades. I would LOVE it if he would register with me, trust me. I will be moving in to his house when we get married and I would like to make it feel more like my home too by having [gasp] dishes from an actual set that I can use when guests are over, or cooking ware that will make cooking actually possible over there.
  • Fi was the same way.  I did a lot of registering with my Mom and he would check it out online and give his opinion.  If there was something he didn't like or if he wanted to add something he just did it online.

You can always add to or delete from your registry on line.  Best of luck with the BB&B registry.  I actaully posted near the bottom of this page about their pushy registry consultants.  From the responses, it's pretty hit or miss.  A couple actually walked out which is what FI and I nearly did before he demanded the scanner and told the consultant that we knew what we were registering for.  Others had no problems.
