Writing own wedding vows

My FI wants us to write our own wedding vows.I know I have so much time to write it but I'm freaking out! I don't even know where to begin.

Re: Writing own wedding vows

  • FI and I wrote our own ceremony because we're not religious and we're having a hard time finding something that we liked.  We googled 5+ ceremony options that we kinda liked and sat down and edited, copy-pasta-d it all together into a ceremony we loved!  I'd recommend something similar for your vows... unless you'd consider that cheating and are meaning to do it from the heart all on your own!
  • I would rather do it that way or write something up together.  I 'll have to talk to him about it.
  • Choice 1

I, Jake, take you, Alexis, / to be my wife. / I promise to walk by your side forever / to love, help, and encourage you / in all that you choose to do. / I will trust you and honor you. / I will love you faithfully through the best and the worst, / through the difficult and the easy. / Come what may, I will always be there for you / as your partner, lover, and best friend. / Everything I am and everything I have is now ours to share forevermore.

I, Alexis, take you, Jake, to be my husband. / I promise to walk by your side forever / and to love, help, and encourage you / in all that you choose to do. / I will trust you and honor you. / I will love you faithfully / through the best and the worst, / through the difficult and the easy. / Come what may, I will always be there for you / as your partner, lover, and best friend. / As I have given you my hand to hold, / so I give you my heart to keep.

    Choice 2

From this day forward, I choose you, Alexis, to be my wife.  I want to live with you and laugh with you; to stand by your side and sleep in your arms; to be joy to your heart and food to your soul; to bring out the best in you always; and, for you, to be the most that I can.  I want to laugh with you in good times; to struggle with you in the bad times; to solace you when you are down hearted; to wipe your tears with my hands; to comfort you with my body; to mirror you with my soul; to share with you all my riches and honors; all the days of our lives.
