It's Sunday!

I'm watching a stupid horror flick, cause I can.

H is making chili. I cleaned all day yesterday, so back to organizing again today, I'm almost done!

How's your Sunday?

Re: It's Sunday!

  • So far, so good. H is at work again (I feel like he's worked nonstop since we got back from the honeymoon), and I'm doing laundry and chores again. I wanted my sister to bring my nephews over, but my stepdad is taking the older one fishing, so I guess I have the house to myself today.

Chili sounds good. I think I'm going to bust out the crock pot later and make something yummy.

  • Morning!  I'm planning our Chicago and Vegas trips, and thinking about putting pork in the crock pot soon.  But H wants beef stew.  But I don't want to MAKE beef stew.  Hmpf.

  • Hey Al-Enjoy your day alone! What are you planning to make?

Jes- Beef Stew takes awhile. So I vote no ;)

When are you going to Vegas?
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
  • When are your trips? I want to go to both places. H and I want to visit a different city every year for the next few years. Chicago is definitely high on my list, but H has been there and he's begging for Vegas.

  • I'm thinking of something reallllly simple, like the five ingredient lentil soup recipe I found on my Real Recipes app. Confession--I've never used a crock pot before. :/ It was a shower gift.

  • Morning!

We're headed to church in a bit, then it's just a lazy Sunday for us. We'll probably have the nephews and their parents over this afternoon for a BBQ and some Bocce Ball.

Sounds like a fun day AZ.

  • LOVE my crock pot.  I need a better quality one though.  Mine cooks too quickly and the lid rattles on high.

We're going to Chicago Thanksgiving weekend, and Vegas in March.  I'm super excited for both.  We got an amazing deal for Vegas, and I'm looking at renting a luxury car for a day to go out to Red Rock Canyon.  So fun.  We've been to Vegas once (my kickass parents took K and I to the Grand Canyon and Vegas for our graduation gift), I've been to Chi several times, but H has never been there so that will be fun.  We're going to Vegas with some friends, so that will be nice too, because Kyle doesn't go out dancing and such, and neither do two of the guys, so they can go sit at the casino while the girls go dance, which is awesome.

Sounds like fun! H may have to go out for business next year, so I'm hoping to tag along. At least his business will pay for his flight, and the room, and his dinners so we'd only have to pay for my portion. And now that I've been I'd be cool with being alone while he works.
OR if we time it right we can meet up with JCB and her husband again.

    Where will you be staying?
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
  • We're staying at Palace Station.  We're not night owls, so we like the quietness of being off the strip a little bit.  Plus that's where our favorite restaurant is (Cabo, yum) and that's where I won my money (sweet).  It was clean and quiet and we got excellent service there when we stayed there last time.  They run several shuttles to the strip and airport 24 hours a day, so it's not even inconvenient.  We stayed in the courtyard last time, so we're going to stay in the tower this time (the newer part) and check it out.  It was only $15 a night to upgrade to the tower.

I do! Pinterest was the push I needed to register for a crock pot. Everything seems so easy--just dump stuff in and go. And since H and I often aren't home til late, it's super convenient for us.

J, your trips sound great! I love traveling with just H, but I've had the best vacations of my life with groups of friends.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic Follow Me on Pinterest
  • I've never traveled with friends before (unless you count my best friend coming to Key West with me and my parents for spring break one year, which I don't), so it should be interesting.  We're not really going WITH them (different flights, different hotels), but we're going at the same time with plans to meet up.  So we'll get a little of both worlds.  H and I aren't big gamblers, so it will be nice to be able to do our own thing during the day and meet up with them later and such.

I have quite  a few crock pot recipes there, my favorite right now is a pot roast recipe, I've made it 3 times now. I usually put it together the night before, dump it in into the pot on my way out and put it on high. It's done when I get home.

Jes- sounds like great deal. We stayed at the MGM, its where his company puts them up because they have conference rooms.

  • I liked the MGM when we walked through it.  We could have stayed at the Wynn for just $100 more than what we we paid, and it was tempting (we don't usually do super nice hotels because it's just a bed and shower for us) but we're creatures of habit and we really enjoyed our experience at Palace Station.

Yeah we didnt stay in the room a lot while we were there. But it was quiet, and close to everything. H loves staying on the strip.

We met JCB and BK there over Thanksgiving last year, beacuse it was the holiday weekend we got a great deal too. I think it was like $85 a night.

  • We don't normally repeat trips, but we love the food and the people watching in Vegas so much that it makes sense for a long weekend trip.  I'm saving vacation days for Hawaii in a year, so we want to take some smaller, long weekend trips in the meantime.

  • I keep pinning all these crockpot recipes with the hope that when we have a bigger kitchen, I'll actually have room to keep a crockpot out and available. That and my KitchenAid. All my fun kichen stuff is stored currently. :(
  • Afternoon!

    What horror movie KD?

We had our official debate last night and after much back and forth it's decided that we'll be going on a spring/early summer mini vacation next year to the Wisconsin Dells with hike stops along the way.  So we'll leave noon-ish on a Wednesday and be home again by Sunday night,  hike it up, maybe hit up the House on the Rock since it's been decades.
  • Friday the 13th X, set in the year 2455. It is utterly ridiculous! But, I have fun wit horror flicks.

  • Hiya!  Your trips all sound fun J&K :)  Enjoy them.  We were talking about vacations for next year at dinner last night.  We'll probably take a week in the fall and do 4 days in OH (early October - do some fall holiday farm fest stuff with H's family) and 4 days in Wisconsin similar to how we did this year for our showers.  We also want to do something where we rent a house for a week either at a beach or in the White Mountains - maybe with friends if any of them are interested in making it a group trip.  There's two other couple friends of ours that are also into the outdoor activities and stuff.  One couple just had their 2nd baby this summer and one is due with their second in February, so if they're interested in getting a 4 or 5 BR place together and we can each take a day to watch all the kids and give the others a "free" day and do some day hiking with the kids in packs and hanging out and stuff.  Otherwise H and I will just do our own vacation somewhere for a week with the baby.
Depending on how things are going, I'd like to try to do Hawaii with H the following year maybe.  Have the grandparents come stay with the kid for a week or 10 days so we can go just the two of us.  But that's really really tentative at this point.

  • Loopy, that's one thing I'm not looking forward to if we ever move out of state: using vacation time and money to visit family.  But I'm a jerk like that.

Anna, we'll chat on the FB, but I do highly recommend Winona over La Crosse.  But I'm totally biased.  La Crosse is awesome too.

  • Good afternoon everyone! Today I'm bottling moose meat and sampling the pumpkin pie I made yesterday. It's pretty yummy, if I do say so myself!!!

FI and I are debating honeymoons now. I think we'll wait until next Christmas. If we go right after the wedding it means that we'll be away from home ALL summer, and the five weeks we were gone last summer was too long for my liking. I want to have some time at home before getting back into the next school year. But we'll see.

I always want to go somewhere warm. My last trip was before FI and I got together (back when we were still just friends). I finished teaching on a Friday, and on Monday afternoon I took myself to Cuba for a week. I didn't know a single person, and it was an amazing trip!

I'm thinking a Dominican or Jamacian honeymoon, but we'll see. If we do go in August instead of over Christmas, I've also suggested an Alaskan cruise, since FI would love to see Alaska, and I think it would be a pretty cool trip.

  • Heyyyyy Everyone's trips sound awesome! I am cleaning and packing myself... I am leaving on Friday to visit FI in Dublin and then have to go to London for work. So I will be gone for 2 weeks... I also have a whole cake I keep having to take forkfuls of because the bakery that is making our cake sent me home with a huge one all sectioned out with different icings/fillings/cakes... This is when I really wish FI was here to help with the planning!!!!!!!!! I may go into sugar shock or not fit in my clothes maybe both. I registered for a crockpot and I can't wait to open it up and use it happy to hear there are recipes on Pintrest!

  • I did the crockpot thing here today too.  Root beer pulled pork for FI and for dinner. Unfortunately, FBIL ended up in the ER last night and was admitted to the hospital today, so it's in the fridge until we both have a day off on Tuesday. I tasted it, though. It's a new recipe for me, and I didn't want to serve FI something really bad, lol.  It's good - spicy enough for him but not so much that it blew my head off, and sweet for me but shouldn't be too sweet for him.  Yum.
