10 days to showtime, photographer is MIA

I've spent the last 3 weeks trying to get ahold of my photographer to firm up wedding day details, and they haven't responded to any of my calls, emails or FB messages. Now their website is down. ARGH!!

They're paid-in-full, and I can't afford another photographer at this point anyway, so here's hoping they show up! And that I don't strangle them if they do!

  • that is terrible. i hope you get ahold of them!!
    Mrs. Lazz :)
  • that is terrible!  I would keep calling and calling every day...maybe even 2 or 3 times a day haha.  possibly in one of your e-mail or voicemails explain how discouraged your becoming and you dont want to call the BBB but you will if you have too (that might push them to call you back).  Good Luck!
  • I would show up at there office like a crazy woman.
  • Contact the Better Business Bureau.

Absolutely contact the BBB but more importantly plan for the worst. Find family, friends, colleages or anyone that has any photography experience and call in some favors. Even if your photographer does the worst thing imaginable and just doesn't show up you'll at least have some sort of back up plan for the day of. I am SO sorry this is happening to you!
  • I hear you. I have one of those "newly discovered amazing photographer" who is doing 2-3 shoots a day. I tried locking in the final details starting a month and a half out. When she didn't respond back to me after 2 weeks, I sent another message. 2 weeks after that message (4 weeks waiting for a response to see if she would do the formal pictures before the wedding). When I didn't get a response from that message in a week, I emailed AND facebooked her each day (in a nice way).  She finally responded to me 2 weeks prior to the wedding.

I would say be careful, and not come off crazy. As bad as it seems, they are someone you don't want mad at you. It could mean the difference between amazing pictures, or normal (but not great) pictures.

They may have a certain timeline where they will lock down the details the week of, and may not be answering before then for that reason. My DJ hasn't even looked over my list because they do their planning 7 days before the event. I don't even have to turn my song list into them until 10 days prior.

  • I hope you get a hold of them!  In case the worst happens, if you paid them with a credit card the government protects credit card charges if the company goes out of business.  If it was cash or check you'll unfortunately have to go to court to get your money back.  I really hope it doesn't come to that but I agree with PP to tell them you are calling the BBB and then do it!

  • wow after all the posting you did for them?
