Honeymoon Discussions

hmmm.. How to Pick Our Honeymoon!?!?

More than likely we will not be able to take our Honeymoon right after the wedding. (90% we CAN't) .... We both agreed that we will be taking within the 1st yr.
Although we know we can't take it right away we know we want to do a Cruise. Both of us are Cruise ppl (we'll be the old folks taking cruises every year haha)

We have it narrowed down to 3 different Cruises and we can't decide!
1. 9 Night Mediterranean cruise (Italy and Greek Islands)
2. 11 Night Mediterranean Egypt Cruise
3. 7 Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise

We want to go all out - so Budget is not an issue. Personally, I think 11 days will get to be long but its Egypt haha So I'm willing to try. :)

FI said he wants to go on the biggest and baddest ship - which would be #3 but I have already done the cruise so its not my first choice.

How would you guys decide? Put them in a hat and pick? haha

Re: hmmm.. How to Pick Our Honeymoon!?!?

  • If budget isn't an issue I would definitely go with the Mediterranean or Egyptian cruise for sure. The Caribbean is so close and cheaper to get to that it's a much more realistic vacation any time. If you're going to have ample time off and no budget concerns, you should definitely go for Europe and/or Egypt.
  • I agree, Eurpoe of Egypt sounds so much better. Caribbean is so close and I'm sure you can get another chance to go. But how many chances do you get to go to Egypt? (that's just sounds awesome!!!)

  • If money were no worry then I'd pick one of the European itineraries (which one would depend on how much time I had available to take off from work).

  • I would definitely do option 1 or 2. Personally...I would do option 1...but I just LOVE Italy! I've never been to Egypt though, so I could be biased! I'm sure no matter what you pick the trip will be super special, and awesome! =]
  • OOOhhhh I definitely say two, Its the longest which is wonderful!! and the idea of going to the mediteranean and egypt is like a dream for me, definitely not something you can do every year. Like everyone else said the caribean is so close and you can do that basically any time where the med. and egypt are a once in a lifetime thing!!

  • I would pick one of the European cruises.  To compromise with FI, I would pick the European ship that was the "biggest" and "baddest."

  • i agree with choices 1 and 2. Even though its 11 days, you wont even notice.

And as far as not being able to go right away, thats normal, and becomming more common now-adays. My FI is a golf pro, and we are waiting until November to go on our honeymoon on a cruise to the Southern Caribbean (wedding is April 30, 2011). We will probably try and book a quick getaway a few days after though. The golf course closes on November 1st for the winter, and we are leaving right after :)

it will be nice to have something to look forward to a couple of months after the wedding!

good luck! let us know what you decide!
  • If you want an adventurous, on the go, non-stop honeymoon, then #1 or #2 are perfect choices.  We just did a 12 night Eastern Med cruise and it was great... but exhausting!  I can't say I would have picked it for a honeymoon though.  If you are looking for a relaxing, laid back trip... then I would do the Caribbean.  Pick one that leaves out of San Juan or Barbados so you can spend a few days enjoying the island as well.

All three are excellent choices.  You and your FI need to decide what kind of experience you are looking for.

  • I agree, do the best European/Mediterranean ship that you can find.  The trip will go fast, so don't worry about the number of days.  Just enjoy it!
