Major F up on wedding expenses

Ugh. So i had paid off my vendors, and made what i thought was my last payment on the venue. The total for our venue was 18,396.00.... I had calculated that i paid 18K with a balance of just under 400. Well when i sat down for my finalizations...they said i only made 16K in payments and still owed over 2 grand. UGHHHH! SO now im scrambling to locate bank statements to see if i screwed up or if they screwed up. because i made lots of telephone payments.
This sucks. :( 

They are also charging us 2.50 per chair cover x 150 chairs. ($375)
Not originally factored in to everything and wasnt expected at all.

SO with that said, i did a tally of all the odds and ends and i found out...i am still 5,000 dollars away from having everything paid. 

Girls, please remember and dont make the mistake that i did...that TIPS (for us it was 1,175 and that was the minimum tip table), HAIR AND MAKEUP, HOTEL rooms, and other little things add up fast.

I completely forgot all about that stuff...and now im panicking and went way over budget. I just took a 9 month project working at JFK airport 14 hours a day and working 7 days at my 2nd job to pay this off...when i thought this would be my smooth sailing period.

FML :(

    Aw, I'm so sorry! If it makes you feel any better, we're in the same boat- I thought we had about $8,000 more to pay out but it turned out to be more like $11,000 :/

    All I do is daydream about May 6th- Aka the day the honeymoon begins.

    WOW!!!! That is a lot. I'm assuming that your venue is including a lot of things in that price for it to be that high. I seriously hope that is not for the venue, tables, chairs, and covers. So sorry I hope you do find all your back papers and that it is there mistake and not yours.

    I’m in the same place too.  I'm about 1,500 over budget too…and I haven’t even talked to my planner about linens and the candy bar yet.  It will all work out, but I hate thinking about money!

    in all we went over by 10K...mostly my own fault for wanting everything to be perfect. theorectically this wedding SHOULD have cost us 60...but ive definately gotten some pretty awesome deals and got some spectacular vendors for the price.
    The venue included food, ceremony, linens (minus chair covers), centerpieces (which we got our own anyway), and a bunch of other extra stuff. They now charge 150 pp for what we got. we paid 89.99 pp. It was all the little things we didnt expect that killed us. Makeup and hair for both the day of and a trial was 500. Hotel for the night before (2 rooms for the bridal party) - 500 bucks. Tips- $1175
    Then i still have to get our license ($90), candy for the candy bar ($?) and any other odds and ends.

    Sad thing is...i dont even make that much...i just get lots of overtime.
    I havent done my taxes this year yet. sort of scared to. I hope i dont owe money.

    OMG. Same boat!! I keep looking at my budget and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger with all the stuff I didn't think of initially....it's crazy. wedding's are so expensive - it's a shame!

    The stress of all of the money part sucks. Going into wedding planning I though we wouldn't spend over 10k. Now we are close to 17k. I just can't believe it. The venue is definitely our most costly item and I don't feel like we went over board on anything.

    I agree May 20th is going to be an awesome day. Can't wait to be on a plan to Maui with my HUSBAND. Wow I love saying that.

    Us too. $10k was just unrealistic for what we wanted, so we had to make adjustments to our monthly budget.

    We are in the same boat. Right now we are about $3500 over budget. Everyone wants what they want and wants it to be perfect. I just keep looking at the budget and I get stressed. Can't wait for it to be paid for.

    Same boat here as well- my ex stopped paying child support almost 3 months ago and now the 2nd job I took to help save money is now just supplementing where the child support should be!  Its something I need to adjust to since after the wedding fi is adopting my daughter but right now I really could be using it.   Now its looking like the honeymoon won't be happening and he refuses to use some of the gift money to take one after the wedding.

    I know how you all feel too. When I did the budget out it was for obvious things like venue, food, vendors, etc. I completely didn't factor in all the little things that come up along the way and add up to thousands... Bathroom baskets, out of town bags, shower/rehearsal dresses, honeymoon clothes, renewing passports, thank you cards/postage, BM and GM gifts, and so on. Ugh!
