Hey Ladies!

Hey y'all!

I've been lurking here off and on for a few years now. I stumbled across this when I was helping my best friend plan her wedding then again when I was helping my sister plan her wedding. I have to admit in the past lurking has kept me sane, especially right around the 5 year mark when everyone and their mother was asking when we were getting engaged, so I figured it's time that I jump in and possibly help others stay sane the way y'all helped me! Also, it'll help keep my mind off school when it gets way to stressful!

A bit about me and the boyfriend... we're both 26 and we've been together for a little bit over 6 1/2 years. I'm currently a grad student and he's doing the 9 to 5 corporate job thing while deciding what he wants to study when he goes back for his masters.

We've been living together for about 4 years now and we're considering expanding our little family to include a cute fur-baby... either a German shorthaired pointer or a Doberman... we're not sure what breed would be best for us yet... we're still in the research phase!

I'm really excited to become an active part of the board!

I love mac n' cheese! I eat Kraft mac n' cheese with ketchup... yum! I also love my grandma's home made mac n' cheese!

We're thinking of adopting from a rescue... it's hard to think of buying one when there are so many who are abandoned and given up just waiting to be adopted.

JMM- I think the ones in my pic are my favorite along with black, yellow and white; purple, silvery-grey and black and orange and grey.... It's hard to pick just one combination!

Elle- I actually just finished reading them all over Christmas break and I loved them!! I'm now super excited to watch the movies...

MLekathLEEN- Yeah GSP are super hyper but we have a yard and are pretty active so it would get lots of excercise and so would we! It would totally be a win-win situation!

Hi! I know what you mean with the constant questions from people: where's the ring? when are you getting engaged? FI and I were together 6 1/2 years before he proposed. Granted, we bought a house together, so we agreed that engagement and marriage would wait until we were settled in the house and comfortably paying the mortgage.

PS. Once you do get engaged and married, be prepared for new questions: when are you having kids? how many kids do you want? People will always ask these kinds of questions, so you might as well get used to it (and potentially have a really cute/funny/shocking answer for them - just to keep them on their toes of course).

Welcome!

BF and I have recently come to answering with denial/blank stares. It gets some great responses (but probably doesn't work on sweet grandmothers.)

For instance, while resigning our lease (we did it separately due to work schedules,) our office manager asked "so when's the big day?" (to each of us separately.)

My response: "Never?"
BF's response: "What big day?"

(sarcasm win)

Our office manager obviously thinks we're psychotic. We're not.

Blue & White- oh yeah... we've perfected that one! Or the one my bf loves is "when she gets around to asking me". That really makes people look at us funny. One of my personal favorites is "Well, I've heard marriage changes a relationship and we're happy the way we are, so why would we want to ruin it?"

Those are mainly reserved for strangers/acquaintances... I don't have many quick witty ones for the family. Well I do, but they're not nice so I don't bust 'em out. I do think them though and laugh to myself...
