You could always do a little gift basket with those mini bath and body works lotions, body washes, and even hand sanitizers.  We did that as a bridal shower gift and put a little loofa with it and the guests loved them!

I had a few people do some smaller tasks for us and I got them some truffles from Godiva.  Other ideas - bottle of wine (we gave this to our reception host couples), gift certificates to a favorite restaurant or store (we did this for our readers).  Not sure if they're fun/unexpected but they went over well!!

What is a reception host couple? I have never heard of this. What are their duties?

I just learned about the host couple also but basically you nominate someone to help direct people to sign your guest book. Then at dinner they help manage releasing the tables for the buffet I believe... basically they are there to help answer questions.

If you have a Costco membership, they've always got really great deals on gift cards and stuff. I just got my dad 2 AMC movie tickets there for $15, and tickets prices regularly being around $11 there.....that's a good deal, lol.

We had host couples because our party started before my parents could arrive.  They handled any questions the reception coordinator had, made sure people who needed flowers got them, made sure guests saw where to put gifts, where the guest book was, where the coat check and restrooms were, etc. until my parents arrived.  They were basically in charge of our party until we could get there.

My sister also had a reception host couple who were in charge of lighting all the votive candles in the stairwell of the reception space and were also in charge for the little bit of lag time that there was between the ceremony and reception while the photos were being done (they didn't want to see eachother before the ceremony so there was a bit more photo time after the ceremony than typically happens if you do photos before)

VistaPrint has some awesome canvas bags that you can put your own design on. I just ordered 10 of them and got them in the mail ASAP. They're amazing, great quality and the girls will use them again and again. Total was $53 for 10! including shipping..
