Traditions Poll

Just curious about what is common in Wisconsin :)

Who's walking you down the aisle?

Are you doing the "somethings"? And what will they be?

Has your groom seen your dress? Has he seen it on you?

Will your groom see you before you walk down the aisle?

Are you doing a Bouquet/Garter Toss?

Anything else that is traditional in your family?

    So for me...
Who's walking you down the aisle? My Dad.
Are you doing the "somethings"? And what will they be? Yes. Old: Grandma's necklace.  New: Dress.  Borrowed: Mom's Bracelet.  Blue: A hanky in my purse.
Has your groom seen your dress? Has he seen it on you? No. H wanted the dress to be a surprise.  I told him it was purple.
Will your groom see you before you walk down the aisle? No. H was adamant about this!
Are you doing a Bouquet/Garter Toss? Yes.  I think they are fun if you have lots of single friends.
Anything else that is traditional in your family? We dance like fools!  Tongue out

Who's walking you down the aisle? Both of my parents - DH walked down with both his parents as well.
Are you doing the "somethings"? And what will they be? Yes. Old: Necklace tied to my bouquet from my great uncle that was given to me when I was 4 - he passed shortly after that.  New: Dress, jewelry, shoes.  Borrowed: Mom's clutch from her wedding.  Blue: "I DO!" on the bottom of my shoes.
Has your groom seen your dress? Has he seen it on you? No. But I did show him pictures of 15 dresses and mine was in the mix - made sure it wasn't something he hated.
Will your groom see you before you walk down the aisle? Yes.  Did first look pictures and LOVED them!
Are you doing a Bouquet/Garter Toss? No.  We did an anniversary dance to honor all the couples there that have given us great examples to learn from.
Anything else that is traditional in your family? A picture with all the aunts, uncles, and cousins (and now cousins SOs and kids).  Our photog said it was the biggest family shot she had ever taken.

Who's walking you down the aisle? Me. I might have my brother but right now it's just me.

Are you doing the "somethings"? And what will they be? I want to do the "somethings", but I am still working on them.

Has your groom seen your dress? Has he seen it on you? No, FI doesn't want to see the dress before the wedding.

Will your groom see you before you walk down the aisle? See above answer

Are you doing a Bouquet/Garter Toss? Yes, we talked about it and we both decided that they would be fun to do.

Anything else that is traditional in your family? I am not doing anything traditional for me but FI really wants a unity candle.

Are you doing the "somethings"? And what will they be? Yes.
Not sure, dress, stepmom's jewelry, either my garter or a single rose/flower.

Has your groom seen your dress? Has he seen it on you? If he has it's
been on accident. I become obsessed with looking at it online but made
sure I looked at tons of other ones. On me, no.

Will your groom see you before you walk down the aisle? NO!

Are you doing a Bouquet/Garter Toss? Absolutely.

Anything else that is traditional in your family? I'm sure someone
will make me do a polka dance with them.

st curious about what is common in Wisconsin :)

Who's walking you down the aisle? My daddy did :)

Are you doing the "somethings"? And what will they be?
Old- Mom's ring that she wore for her wedding to my dad, New- Dress, Necklace and Earrings, Borrowed- a blingy hair clip from a BM, Blue- Underwear and Shoes!

Has your groom seen your dress? Has he seen it on you?
Well, he has now!  But before the wedding no he did not....he may have snuck a look at a picture but he is staying true to his word of not peeking!

Will your groom see you before you walk down the aisle?
No, we didn't and I'm so glad...it was such a rush seeing him look at me down the aisle!

Are you doing a Bouquet/Garter Toss?
Yes we did, we have lots of single friends so it was hilarious- and the GM's always have some sort of plan to pull lots of random things from under my skirt :P

Anything else that is traditional in your family?
Well, yes the polka was one!  We did a Dollar Dance- from DH's family traditions.  A huge tradition was the church and reception hall for my fam...everyone has their weddings there!   And apparently I started a new one- stage diving...

Will your groom see you before you walk down the aisle?  Nope.

Are you doing a Bouquet/Garter Toss? Yeah - it was a HUGE hit at the wedding.

Anything else that is traditional in your family?  Not really.

Who's walking you down the aisle?
My dad. I will be sitting on his lap and he will "wheel" me down the aisle in his wheelchair. (He’s paralyzed except he can move his head, but its something important to both of us- so I don't give a ding-dong if we will look strange. He's my dad!)

Are you doing the "somethings"? And what will they be?
Old- taking a piece or two from my grandmother’s wedding dress and sewing it in someway with my dress (maybe straps- not decided yet.) Still thinking on the other somethings.

Has your groom seen your dress? Has he seen it on you?
Not yet. I’m trying to keep it a surprise.

Will your groom see you before you walk down the aisle?
Yes. We are having a night ceremony/reception so we want pictures taken outside in the park before it gets to dark (our date is in November.) I might change my mind on this and just have pictures of us taken inside the park building we rented- there’s a fireplace, so that may be a nice backdrop!

Are you doing a Bouquet/Garter Toss?
No. I nor fiancée was ever a fan.

Anything else that is traditional in your family?
I will have a Polka dance or two, but mostly our wedding will be “us.” We are very non-traditional people to begin with ; )

Who's walking you down the aisle? My daddy

Are you doing the "somethings"? And what will they be? Yes!
Old: My mom's rosary that she carried on her wedding day
    New: Dress/jewelry
    Borrowed: Not sure yet
Blue: The Tacori "Something Blue" hair pin

Has your groom seen your dress? Has he seen it on you? I don't have a dress yet, but no he won't see it on me before the wedding day

Will your groom see you before you walk down the aisle? No

Are you doing a Bouquet/Garter Toss? I want to do a bouquet toss, but I'm not too keen on the garter toss/FI going up my dress in front of my family thing.

Anything else that is traditional in your family? Not really, lol.

Who's walking you down the aisle?
    My dad

Are you doing the "somethings"? And what will they be?
    New- Dress
Blue- The underwear I was wearing the day he proposed was blue and said "Yes" on the front, total coincidence, but it was meant to be so I'm wearing it again :)
    Old- My grandma's jewelry
    Borrowed- Not sure yet

Has your groom seen your dress? Has he seen it on you?
No, and he will not see it in pictures on or me!  We both want it to be a surprise.

Will your groom see you before you walk down the aisle?
    Nope!

Are you doing a Bouquet/Garter Toss?
    Yes, absolutely!

Anything else that is traditional in your family?
It somehow became a tradition in my family to have the bride spend the night before the wedding at her parent's house and somehow her younger sibling/niece/cousin always sleeps in the same room as the bride.  For my mom, it was my aunt, for my aunt it was my sister, for my sister it was me (I was 10), and so my niece (who is 4) might be sleeping in my room that night!  It's a good luck tradition!

Who's walking you down the aisle?  debating just dad or mom and dad...

Are you doing the "somethings"? And what will they be?  possibly-- but I hate blue... probably till at the end...

Has your groom seen your dress? Has he seen it on you? I posted a picture of it on on a hanger on facebook to stop the curiosity of family... told him it was there and it was his choice whether or not to peek... I mean a hanger doesnt really do it justice...

Will your groom see you before you walk down the aisle?  Due to timing of the wedding we will probably be taking pictures beforehand... but I hope to capture 'first look' pictures...

Are you doing a Bouquet/Garter Toss?  right now-- probbly not...

Anything else that is traditional in your family?  My grandfather (who is now 90) leads a polka train to the song Beer Barrle Polkza at EVERy family wedding I have been at for a long as I can remember... My finacee is slightly scared at this thought but the idea od 50++ people dancing around behind my granfather makes me happy and I know it will make his night!!!!
