NWR: I hate taxes -long vent-

Removing all the personal info.

Thanks for letting me vent-- it feels good to get it off my chest.

For those who just came here, between FI and myself we paid about $10k in taxes this year. Yuck.

I hate taxes <3

Re: NWR: I hate taxes -long vent-

  • It's always a struggle when you have your own business. My mom is always keeping receipts, trying to find any and everything she can write off so that she doesn't get that lovely owing letter.
I, myself, have to watch my hours carefully at work. The second I hit I believe it's 76 hours per pay I jump the next tax bracket.... I seriously cannot afford to have to PAY... in fact I'm hoping for some of my return this time.

Bright side for me, once my taxes go through... bye bye student loan!!! (It's a government loan, so they get first crack at tax returns and sales tax credits)

<div>That's what's happening with my freelance income-- so when I was advised that 1/3 of each check was enough, it turned out that that was not right :(</div><div>
Hooray for the your student loan being done! :)</div>

<div>And it sucks when you're trying to do everything by the book and truthfully, and then *knock knock* "Give us moolah, plz!". I still say the government should give out honesty credits. LOL</div><div>
</div><div>I'm sooooo glad my loan is done and over with, I thought I'd never finish paying it back. </div>

    <div>AGREED!</div>
  • I love taxes so I am no help. My quarterly bonuses are so heavily taxed that I always get a refund check. Plus with claiming our homes mortgage interest it always becomes a nice chunk of change. Buying a house is the best thing you can do for your tax returns!

It stinks that by doing extra work you end up paying more though. I would be careful about putting clicky links to your business on TK they are pretty strict about "vendors" posting:)

<div>I removed the link, thanks for the tip. I don't do weddings so I thought it'd be ok. </div><div>
</div><div>I can't wait until we buy a house, mostly for reasons other than taxes, obviously, but I have a feeling it would be a big help.</div>
