Dress shipping / steaming and general questions

Hi guys!  So we're getting married February 4th - 2 years after the day we first met.  So very excited since we had originally planned a wedding for June 1, 2013.  We started having trauma (drama) with his family and decided to elope.  So February 4th in Vegas it is :)  I already booked the site (702weddings) and the time.  Bought the dress, the dress is in (that was fast!).

Now I have to figure out what to do with the dress.  What are your thoughts?

We get there on February 3 at 6pm and then go pretty much straight to the bureau to get our certificate and then over to 702 to get set-up for the next day.  Our wedding is at 4pm on the 4th....

My wedding planner sent me the name of someone who will come into the hotel room and steam the dress for me....but I'm wondering if I should just ship it out there ahead of time and have someone "store" it for me and steam then deliver it to me.

Thoughts?

Re: Dress shipping / steaming and general questions

  • which package and where are you getting married at 702
  • We bought the $499 package but got upgraded to the $799 package for free.

  • There is a place called Fit for a Bride that alot of girls on here have given good reviews. You can choose to ship her your dress in advance or bring it once you to Vegas. I have yet to decide if I'm going to ship or carry on the plane but I'm pretty sure I'm going with her.

  • Does Fit for a Bride come to your room or do you have to take your gown to them?

  • I would ship it to Debi at Fit for a Bride. She was wonderful for me.

  • Debi will pick it up and drop it off. Unless you pay an extra fee at drop off ( which includes last minute touch-up steaming), she meets you in the lobby for delivery.

At least thats what I remember from the website.
  • I met debi from fit for a bride in the lobby with my dress day before the wedding and she returned it the next day. She was spot on time for both and my dress was perfect totally recommend her!

  • We flew in on a Tuesday and got married on Wednesday.

I sent my dress, my BM dress and my husband's suit and dress shirt to Debi a week ahead of time, texted her when we had landed and were in our hotel room, and she delivered it the evening we arrived. If you send your dress well ahead of time, "Overnight" delivery costs are not necessary. I sent my dress 2 day air via UPS (Trackable, just like overnight) and it was <$20 to send. Overnight would likely have cost me $50+, in addition to the cleaning charges and Debi's hotel dropoff fee. I brought my dress home in my suitcase, I did not have it shipped back to me. (had it pressed again when I got back home)

In Vegas, I did not meet Debbie for handoff, she just left it at the belldesk and a message was on the room phone when it was delivered, and Debbie texted me at the same time as well. It was beautiful.

As a side: I would "pre-register" for your wedding license online. You get into an express line at the courthouse and show them your verification email and both ID's (you must both be there to get it) and you're in and out like a flash. Otherwise, you're standing in line with the others filling their forms out that day and it could get crazy and the wait is long.
