Williams Somona "issue" XP

I set up a WS registry with FI and some items have been purchased off of it.  We created it in store, but added more items online.
This weekend, FMIL called because she went shopping with a friend off the registry and the clerk at WS said they needed a password to take the items off the registry.  I checked our account information and it is set to public.  I called WS and the girl was pretty confusing and said retail is different than online, and people don't always understand that because it's the same name.
Does that mean that people can only go online to purchase? That would be really annoying to some of my guests and maybe a reason why 80% of the stuff has been purchased off Macy's and only a few items off WS (which had some less expensive items, all but 5 were $50 and under...)
Sorry this got long, I'm just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if/how they fixed it?
*coughs* Kelsey, help me out, girl! ;) I *think* you are registered there.

Re: Williams Somona "issue" XP

  • I have bought items off WS and PB registries (same company) before and have never needed a password.  Perhaps this is new, but it's a terrible idea!
  • J, if there was one closer, I would go and try and buy something off it to see what's up.  I'm really disappointed that this happened, because now either I will get multiples of an item at my shower, or I will find out what the person got because I have to call and get it taken off myself.  She said "There is a password on here, I can take it off for you" but I wasn't sure if she meant the password to change the account/add things.
  • That's weird. I have no advice as I've never even shopped there before.

This, Sorry, hope you can figure it out soon. That sounds like a pain in the tail

  • That's really weird. We registered in store and tweaked/added more things online. They should be able to just mark it off when the item is purchased. You might have to show them the registry print out so they can scan the barcode on the print out and then mark it in their computer...

    So strange.

They are kind of weird about it though. I had some items from there that were purchased as Christmas gifts that didn't get marked as purchased. I contacted WS and they said I would have to show a receipt to prove it was purchased from there if I wanted it marked off. What the heck! I don't have receipts for presents...so I just had to take those things off entirely. So they can be a pain.

    Crazy pants!

My mother bought all of our chargers from BB&B.  A few days later, they showed up on Gilt and I emailed her about it.  She bought them all from Gilt, then returned the ones from BB&B.

I started a "chat with customer service" window on the BB&B website, told them to mark the chargers as fulfilled and they were just fine with that.

I had an aunt buy something at Michael C. Fina instead of BB&B and they were fine with updating the item.

With all the stores bending over backwards to register couples, you'd think they'd want to make the process as easy as possible at W-S.  After all, there's almost always  a Crate & Barrel or Sur La Table right down the way from the Williams Sonoma at the mall.
  • My brother bought stuff off our registry for Christmas and it came off. Stuff my mom has purchased has come off from there as well.
