Any suggestions for buying...ahem...undergarments?

I need to start my series of alterations soon and I know I am supposed to have alll the goodies with me - shoes, jewelry, veil and bra.  Does anyone have recommendations on where to find long line bras/strapless that work well with wedding dresses?

You should be able to find longline bras at places like Macy's and JC Penny's. Have one of those places fit you professionally if you haven't been fitted in a while. I was also leary of using wedding shop's bras and accessories, so I just brought my own regular strapless white bra. And it also depends on your dress. I dd not even wear a bra. Some brides also suggest asking your seamstress to sew cups in is a better alternative to wearing a strapless bra.

As far as underwear, I just wore white "bride" bikini's I found at VS. I really don't suggest a thong, but you should be able to find cute bride panties at places like VS and other stores in the mall. Good luck..

Great question! I also wanted to know what is necessary to buy the $160 undergarments recommended by the bridal salon?

I got mine at Macy's. Maiden form was the brand I do believe, and it was almost half the price of bridal shop. I ended up having cups sewn in (by my seamstress) so I won't even be using it now :( size 34B if you are interested, $30

I may be interested if the original poster isn't! That's typically the size I wear in a normal bra. Is it white or like that tan-ish color? I am terrified my alterations are going to be very expensive because my dress is all lace. What was I thinking? LOL

I think I will have cups sewn into mine as well. I HATE strapless bras because they never stay up (to be honest I don't have much to hold them up!) and the idea of tugging at my bra all day/night sounds awful.

Kate2dance, my dress is also lace and I have had major freak outs over how much my alterations will cost! My worst fear is that they might cost almost as much as the dress.

Von Maur at Polaris had the best selection of garments. Spanx all the way. They are high quality and come in a huge variety of styles and options.

I also bought mine from Macy's (clicky).  I had also looked at some online at Frederick's of Hollywood, but I really wanted to try it on before I bought it.

Thanks everyone.  I am a 36D so I won't be able to purchase the offer listed on this page for 34B.  We'll also see what my seamtress says about sewing in cups...being bigger chested, I usually need all the support I can get!

Tammy - if you really want a longline bra, I would definitely check out a department store before you go to a bridal shop....or do both. It is just WAAAAY cheaper at the department stores than the bridal shops. Good luck!

This was great advice! I'm looking too and I will def check out Macys and Von Maur.

I'm pretty sure there is a Fredericks at Easton, so I will check them out too.
