McMenamin's Cornelius Pass Roadhouse -- Traffic Noise??

Hi All,

I am not from Oregon but am planning on getting married there next year. Unfortunately, my fiance and I are in the position of having to book a venue sight-unseen because we want to get married over a holiday weekend and will not have the chance to visit the state until later this fall.

One venue we are strongly considering is Cornelius Pass Roadhouse -- outdoors in the Orchard and Wedding Grove.  However, looking at the pictures, I am concerned about whether there is a high level of traffic noise from the neighboring road.  Has anyone gotten married outdoors there or been to a wedding there who can tell me how bad it is??  Any opinions very much appreciated!!  Thank you!!

p.s. -- We called Edgefield, but it is booked for our date, as is Bridal Veil Lakes... if anyone knows of any other similar (lower-cost, outdoor, DIY-type locations), please let me know.

We got married in the wedding grove in June 2006. I don't recall any traffic noise. I do remember seeing a plastic tent on the other side of the main building that was a lot closer to the main road but I don't remember if that's what they called the orchard or not. I can imagine you could hear some noise there.

The wedding grove was great. We had our ceremony there and after that we had our dinner in a large tent outside the barn and our reception inside the barn. We started to get rain at 9pm so I'm glad we had both the outdoor and indoor option.

I would highly recommend getting married there. They only charge a food and drink minimum and that includes rental of the space for the entire day plus setup and tear down of all the chairs, tables, linens, etc. We had a great time. And at the end of the day they boxed up all the leftover food for us and gave us all the unfinished bottles of wine. If you want more info, you can send me a PM.

We got married there Spring '07.  We opted out of using the tent Esther is referring to specifically because of traffic noise.  Instead, we got married outside the barn (still some noise, but not nearly as bad as over on the other side of the property) and then had our reception inside the barn.  When you rent the Barn, the outdoor space around it is included so that was more cost-effective for us as well. We were totally satisfied with our choice- it's a great venue!

Have you considered McMenamin's Grand Lodge in Forest Grove?  It's a little farther outside of Portland but also has some great indoor/ outdoor spaces.  I particularly love the Compass Room/ Iron Works Patio combo there.
