Wedding Makeup...Which One?

I'm trying to decide between buying MAC or Sephora makeup for the wedding.   I'm torn between them because I've heard good/bad from each.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe you can get a makeover with both makeups to see what you like better on your skin.

  • I have used the Sephora brand in the past and not loved it.  Primer is absolutely a must.  I've never tried MAC though.
  • I love MAC for every product except their foundation.  It felt nice and all, but it made me break out.  I also like Sephora, but more for the skin care products they carry.  I use MAC makeup every day, and it always lasts a long time.  I'm sure their HD products will be even longer lasting and more durable.  With MAC, at least in my area, you can go in during the week and get your makeup done for free.  If you go in on Friday - Sunday, then they make you buy $50 worth of product.  Try to go Monday- Thursday and see how you like it.

  • I would suggest maybe like its been mentioned to have a makeover with both brands seperately.  That way you can be the judge of what you like best.

  • Personally I have used both and MUCH prefer MAC over Sephora.  It seems to blend easier and have more staying power for me.
  • I haven't ever used MAC but that is what my make-up artist uses. She does make-up for models and movies, she says it photographs the best...so we will see :)

  • If you go to a Sephora, ask for samples of each makeup to take home with you-  I've found that putting them on at home is really key for me to see how they show up.

Also, TAKE PHOTOS WITH THE FOUNDATION ON.  I was using a MAC foundation (Studio Sculpt maybe?) with a higher SPF and in pictures my face looked weirdly chalky.  Someone mentioned it was because one of the ingrendients in that foundation that protects your skin from light also reflects horribly in pictures.  I've also heard to be careful about mineral makeups and to take pictures to check the reflection factor.

That all being said, I love, love, LOVE my MAC prep and prime primer.  When I wear it, my foundation just glides on, it's not sticky or gross and you never never ever have the devestating 'makeup globbing in all the wrong places' look during the day.
