Ceremony music? (sorry if thise dbl posts, TK ate my first one)

I'm all over the place with things I'm trying to get done so sorry for all the questions today!  We agreed to do a classic/traditional processional and modern/upbeat recessional to get the party going.  We aren't getting married in a church so no rules aobut our music.  Problem is...I don't like most of the traditional stuff!  Only thing I like so far is Canon in D and a youtube video I heard of a saxophone "Here Comes the Bride."  I can't find wedding saxophone music anywhere and am stuck on what other songs to use.  So questions:

Anyone ever seen/heard where to get saxophone wedding music?

Would it be weird if we went with instrumentals of modern music (not pop, but like Frank Sinatra or Harry Connick Jr) and then switched to Canon in D?

What are you using (type or specific song)?

Thanks!  I just don't want ceremony music regret and since nothing excites me I feel like I'm just going to settle which sucks.

  • This isn't carved in stone but right now we're planning on:

Processional - At Last - Vitamin String Quartet cover (instrumental)
Recessional - At Last - Eva Cassidy cover (vocal and instrumental)

    Pre-Ceremony Music:
VSQ and Section Quartet covers of GNR, Rolling Stones, Depeche Mode, Postal Service, etc

I may add some stuff or change things around but that's what I have set for now. We're using an iPod and speakers for our small outdoor ceremony.

  • We are using VSQ for our ceremony! I think my FI died a little when I didn't want "here comes the bride" lol. We are actually using their version of 'I'm yours' by Jason Mraz and I am looking at their stuff for my dad and I to walk down with but it will be their music. I really like that they do modern music and you should definitely check them out!
  • I can't decide for the bridal march.  I'm torn between VSQ "Bubbly", or Shania Twains "From This Moment".  For the exit we are using the VSQ "Emperial Death March".lol.

  • Ooo I'm definitely going to check out VSQ.  I like that idea a lot!
  • Just a little history for 'Here Comes the Bride', and the reason it DEFINITELY won't be played at my wedding hahaha
Its actually the song played in one of Wagner's operas when a couple is being ushered into a bridal chamber, and is also known in some circles as the 'March of the Prostitute' hahaha

I am still undecided what we're doing, but we're thinking of One Republic's Good Day for our recessional
  • We are going to use string music either volin or string quartet we are talking to the music department of the two colleges that are close to the city we are getting married at and finding students that want to earn extra cash and get experience in weddings. The music that we want is:
The Promise by Tracy Chapman -what i will walk down to
Crazy for this girl by Evan and Jaron (acustic version)-bridal party will walk down to
Once Upon a Dream (sleeping beauty!!!) for walk back up the aisle

PreCeremony and Cocktail hour has not been decided but we will definently have some sleeping beauty by tchaikovsky.

My suggestion is to look up jazz music specific for the saxophone.
it is your day pick what you and your FI want just make sure that the transition between the genres is smooth not hugely dramatic and different and you should be fine-no one should truly care if you go from modern instrumental to Cannon in D that is what you want it is all about you and your FI not the guests-just keep that in mind
  • Definitely checking out VSQ!

We haven't even begun to think about ceremony music. We need to find us a DJ first, hopefully that gets accomplished this week!

YES, definitely check them out! I had never heard of them until our DJ mentioned them. Now I am hooked! :)
