New to the boards!

I thought id drop by and say hello! My fiance and I are FINALLY getting married on April 14, 2012! This is actually our second "Attempt", unfortunately. We were suppsed to be married last sat, april 16th, but due to my FI losing his job and my mom getting an extreme pay cut, we had to postpone all wedding plans, Can I just tell you how weird that day was?! It was a beautifu day and I kept thinking.. "I wonder what I would be doing at this point?!"

Oh well! Now were back to planning and nothing will get in the way this time! We're planning an entire DIY wedding, and have just booked our venue. I had already purchased bridesmaids dresses... and my wedding dress. Which is now... 6 sizes too big!!!! Im so excited to go shopping for another, sexier wedding dress!! Im excited to share this experience with all of you ladies! Ive been an avid April 2011 board reader but could never participate in the excitement, because of the "postpone".

That just didn't come out right....I blame that it's almost midnight and I just finished some Accounting homework...)

I'm sorry to hear about your FI and your mom - that definitely must have been weird.

But yay on the dress being too big! That's always a plus.

Here here! (I'm hoping for that too - but I'm not off to a very good start ._.)

Both FI and mom are back to work and things are looking up! (Lets hope it stays that way!) How far along in your planning are you?! I feel sooo overwhelmed with ideas! Like I said, were having a DIY wedding... to the extent of renting a "Hall" and doing everything on our own. It seemed to be cheaper that way. We will ofcourse be hiring a caterer for food, but doing all decorations on our own.

I dont know where to start!!

Congrats and welcome to the board. I feel you on having to postpone as we have had to do the same but now everythings a go for us as well. I look forward to getting to know you and planning along side of you! This board is full of amazing ladies with LOTS of great ideas!!!!

Welcome. FI and I are in the same boat, our original date (which we already had booked with our venue) is Saturday...oh well. Things work out this way for a reason, and I'm glad I've had the extra year to plan. Good luck with your planning!

Welcome welcome!!

Nice to *meet* you!

First thing, figure out the venues, then your colors... everything else can and will fall into place after that! FI and I are DIYers as well--- what I've found works out well also is that if you have friends who are recently married, it's useful to talk to them and get ideas. A friend of mine basically provided our centerpieces via a single conversation, which was an awesome thing.

Don't get overwhelmed- remember that nobody knows you and FI better than you and FI do, and so you are the one person on earth who is most qualified to plan this thing!!! (Though hiring help never hurts!!!)
