Rehearsal Dinner Help

My FI and I are trying to plan the rehearsal dinner. We have hit a few bumps in the road with his parents suddenly deciding that they didn't really have the money to help with our wedding any more we are trying to regroup. We have an extremely large wedding party and our rehearsal dinner would be about 60 people.  His parents aren't willing to help research places so now the rehearsal dinner is really falling on us. We are looking for something very inexpensive but something fun and nice. Any suggestions and help would be so greatly appreciated.

I don't know if this is lame or not- but Darby Creek Metro Park has a really nice lodge.  It has full bathrooms, air conditioning, fireplace, a full kitchen.  It's set back in the wooded area and has a really nice deck all the way around it.  The rental fee (we used it for a holiday party) was only a hundred bucks for like half the day.  You could have it some place like that and have City BBQ or something simple (but yummy) for the catering.  The only thing I just thought of is there's a no alcohol policy since it's a city park.

Our RD was at the Red Brick Tavern (don't let the name fool you) in Layfette, Ohio. I don't know if you are getting married in Columbus or Cincy. The Brick is an old historic restaurant where a quite a few presidents stopped to eat and sleep throughout history.

We just did heavy app's/hor'dourves since the dinner didn't start until about 7:30pm and our wedding was at 1pm the next day.

    look into these hidden gems:
ray's living room (a little event space/art gallery belonging to rigsby's kitchen)
wild goose creative (rents their room/gallery out for very very cheap)
metroparks are definitely a good call too.
    good luck!

We are actually having ours at El Vaquero... my fiance are pretty laid back so this is the perfect place for us.  We had a really hard time finding places with a private area!

I have also heard of people using Buca di peppo

We had ours at DeepWood downtown. It was really nice- good food, good atmosphere, and they worked within the budget we gave them for our 50 person RD. We thought the prices were reasonable, and they even threw in table centerpieces and a printed menu at each place setting.

Schmidt's is pretty decent and in such a neat area! It seemed pretty inexpensive.

We're doing Buca di Beppo. Family style and very inexpensive. Plus, a private room. I think the food worked out to be $5-7/pp. Check out the alcohol prices.

Im sure its not everyone's taste, but we are renting the front room of Pig Iron BBQ in Clintonville.  We are looking forward to a casual & fun party the night before the big fancy party.  We havent discussed menus yet, but considering the existing menu, it should be pretty cheap for a big meal.
