Dropping a Class?

Well, this summer I was supposed to PLAN PLAN PLAN.  Needless to say, that didnt happen.  My Summer class is kicking my ass.  So, now I have to do majority of my planning during school which I wasn't planning on.  So now I have to make a decision.  Should I drop a class and fit it in after the wedding?  Or for go sleep and figure it out?  Anyone with planning dilemmas?

    I wouldn't drop the class. Will one more class even make that much more of a difference? I think in the long run it will be better just to stick it out.

    I am a money person. Is the extra class covered in your already set tuition? Like my tuition covers up to 12 credit hours, any more than that I pay extra. If that was the case then I would drop to save some money and a piece of mind. However if your tuition covers it... find out the college's policy on withdraw dates.

    If your withdraw date is in Nov. stick with the class load and see how it goes. You may luck out with professors who do most the work in class and out of class is work/wedding time. If you find one professor is expecting twice the work as the others - you know which one to drop till you have time to focus on it. Waiting till Nov. will not influence a tuition reimbursement and you get to try it out.

    Sometimes the college will show on your transcripts that you have a W or NC (no credit). If you are planning to continue to grad school it won't influence your application to have one. For some reason in the interview they ask just tell them you were planning a wedding and got over zealous. Grad schools look more at your experience outside of school along with CONSISTENT decent grades rather than awesome grades all of the time.

    I agree with Alliance...if the cost of the course is already covered by tuition (like her, my school allows you to take 9-12 graduate school credits to be considered full-time, anything more than that and you have to pay extra), try it out and see what the load will be like.  Also, in addition to a withdraw period where a W would appear on your transcript, my schools (undergrad and grad) have had Add/Drop periods up through I think the first or 2nd week of class where you can freely Add or Drop classes if they don't work out and it doesn't show on your transcript.  So this also give you and opportunity to feel out the class...

    Personally I don't think it is worth it to drop a class. Life will be just a busy being newly married and then having to take an extra class. Prioritizing is key, use those random hours between class when you are stuck on campus or whatever to get little things done. Also don't be afraid to ask friends for help (as long as they are invited), everyone loves a study break.

    I would never drop a class just to plan a wedding. Of course- and maybe I'm a rarity - but I don't think wedding planning is nearly as difficult as the world seems to want you to think it has to be. We started planning a couple months ago and we've got all our major items taken care of already. The only stressful part was finding a venue, and that's because I was doing it from 9 hours away, in a state I'm not 100% familiar with.

    I don't think dropping a class would make enough of a difference to justify taking it later. I guess it could depend on the difficulty of said class. If it requires you to do hours of outside work each week, then perhaps. But if it's a matter of showing up to an hour long lecture 3 times a week, and spending an hour or two doing the readings/assignments, I would just go through with the class.

    Ditto this.  I mean honestly, just try to stay on top of things.  If you really can't get the planning done without dropping the class, I would be more likely to push back the date.

    I agree with most others and wouldn't drop the class.  There is always going to be something and I say just get that class out of the way.  I think you will find more time to wedding plan than what you are anticipating, but yes it may take some sleepless nights.

    Thanks everyone for your responses.  The extra class will cost me 4000 dollars!  I think I will just stick with it, and I can always drop before the full-refund date if it gets to be too much.  Hopefully I luck out with professors.  Good luck planning everyone!
