Where do you recommend to buy candy?

Hi Ladies,

Its been three and a half years since my wedding, but I'm currently working on a senior prom and the kids want a candy buffet!   I didn't do one for my wedding, but I'm sure some of the ladies on here can assist me in finding a reasonably priced place to purchase candy in bulk.  I looked back through a few pages of posts and didn't see any website or store mentioned. All suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Where do you recommend to buy candy?

  • I bought all my candy from BJs and Sams.  I was told by another Knottie (jmorta) that it's about 1/4 - 1/2 lb of candy per person.

We are having almost 200 people at our wedding, so we decided to get 100 lbs of candy.  BJs and Sam's usually sells bags of 3-5lbs so we only had to get 2-3 bags per candy item.  We are doing 10 different candies so it came to about $130 I believe.  We also scoured for manufacturer's coupons.

  • I got most of mine at Sam's Club and then bought a few items online at Candy Direct.  I went with around 100 pounds of candy for my 190 person wedding and we had some leftover, but not much.

  • Thanks so much for your help!  The lbs per person was much appreciated as well! :)
  • We had a candy bar at our wedding, and we wanted specific colors. We had lots of luck buying online, mostly from Candy Warehouse. If you're picky about colors or specific types of candy, CW is a good option.
  • I have had candy bars at showers, birthday parties, my mother's 50th etc and I've bought all my candy online. Def a lot cheaper and you can purchase buy color, theme, etc.!
