Lake Geneva venue suggestions? (destination wedding)

My best friend just got engaged. She lives in No IL and I live in Mpls. She is thinking Lake Geneva for a destination wedding (her family is from SD and his family is from the UP of MI).

They would like to have the ceremony, reception and guest rooms in one location. Any suggestions?

Depending on budget, Grand Geneva would probably be one of the best options.  It has rooms, a nice restaurant, a spa, a waterpark and can hold ceremonies and receptions.  The price isn't terrible, but I'm sure you could find something cheaper in the area.  It's a really nice resort and has a TON of things for guests to do (this would be especially nice for a lot of OOT guests).

If she isnt set on having the ceremony/reception/room stay in the same location there are many beautiful options. Check into the Riveara (on the lake), Horticultural Hall (walking distance to lake) both have a good amount of room for the ceremony AND reception. Both are also very close to some large hotels. Another option is to check into homes on the lake that are available for short term rental. Bridal party could stay in the home and the wedding could be in the back yard with a tent set up for the reception. (Lakespropertymgmt.com)

If she likes the idea of a backyard party style reception there are a bunch of locations around the lake, in Williams Bay there is a gorgous observatory that allows rentals of the grounds.

Otherwise if she wants a hotel, Grand Geneva I agree is really pretty. Another location that equates to it is located on the otherside of the lake in Fontana its called The Abbey. or Geneva National back in LG to see whats worth the money more.

I live on the opposite side of the lake from Lake Geneva (by Fontana) so I know the non-turisty opinions and options, private message me if you have any questions I can help you with.

My cousin got married at Kirsch's Restaurant and French Country Inn. The ceremony was looking out over the lake, and the reception was right inside. The food was delicious, and the setting was really really beautiful.

I was born and raised in Fontana, on the other side of Lake Geneva, and I am getting married there next summer!  I am getting married at Abbey Springs in Fontana; I am having both the ceremony and reception here.  We are getting a fantastic bang for our buck!  Ceremony is under a tent overlooking Geneval Lake, and the reception is at the clubhouse.  You really can't get married any closer to the lake than Abbey Springs, if that is a sticking point for you.  They have recently renovated too, so everything is up to date and beautiful.  There is no hotel accomodations on site.  If you want a hotel on site and your budget is bigger, try The Abbey Resort and Spa.  We also met with them for a wedding site and they give first rate service; we just didn't end up going with them due to budget.  If you have an unlimited budget, then I would go Grand Geneva, but I believe even the smallest of weddings there have a $16,000 food and beverage minimum, and they are also a bit outside of Lake Geneva.

Please feel free to private message me if you would like any additional information on the different venues or others in the Lake Geneva area, I have a ton of knowledge and information!
