Menu for a Buffet??

I'm having a buffet dinner at my wedding. Are menu cards really needed?? If so should I still put one on everyones place setting or just one or two per table to give the guests an idea of what they will eat??

I ALWAYS think these are unneccessary...if anything, you could have a sign up where the plates are that people will read just as they start to go through the line so they can identify anything that may be complicated

Like VJC said, to me, it's a waste of money and paper.  We had a buffet and the owner put out a card next to each set up to let the guest know what kind of food it was.

I like having them at the beginning of the buffet table as a guest, that way I know whether to fill my plate now or save space for something at the end of the buffet.

I agree with this - I think you could just print up one or two to have at the start of the line.  And will the dishes be labeled?  You don't have to do a fancy extensive description or anything, but I know sometimes I can't tell what something is and thus tend to avoid it.  It would also be helpful to anyone with allergies or dietary restrictions, if it's not clear just from looking.

We did stations and had 2 menu cards at each table.  It was a project my mom wanted to do, so I didn't really mind.  They turned out nice and I think it gave people a 'heads up' as to what we were serving.

By no means do I think they are necessary but sometimes they're a nice touch so people know what they're going to be having for dinner.

I think individual menus would be overkill.  I like the idea of having a menu at the beginning of each buffet table.  HTH!
