Hair and Make Up in Los Angeles

I just go back from a hair trial.  I liked my hairstyle, but I think everything is pricy.  She charged me $75 for the trial today and will charge 150 on the day of the wedding.  To top it all off she said I might have to pay her a $30 travel fee to go less than 15 miles.  She said she'd charge $75 for my bridesmaids hair.  I've been in weddings before and have paid for my hair, but never $75.  Is this just another wedding thing that costs more than I expected?

It is hard to say if this price is too expensive.  Like all things, there are cheap vendors and expesive vendors.  Some vendors do a better job than others.  Some vendors have more experience than others.  If your hair person is going to be with you for several hours and she does a good job then I don't think this is over priced and I will tell you why.  Your hair is $150 plus your girls is what, another $300???  That means the stylist is making $450 for the day. That is probably what a good stylist makes on a Saturday at a salon...but instead of working at the salon she will be working the wedding for the day.

    I agree with lala90.

However, let's not forget that $450 is A Lot of Money. I mean, that's a price of a very nice cake! Or all your favors! You know what I mean. I think this could be worth it if the stylist is Amazing and makes you absolutely happy.

If she is "just OK" I think you can find a better price. (oh, and I think the travel fee is just BS -- 15mi in LA is nothing)

I have been to several LA weddings and have seen prices for about $100/bride and $50/bridesmaids.

    Good luck!

I think the price is reasonable...I also agree with lala90. :-)

And yes, you can spend that $$ on other stuff....but it's really an investment....because having great hair/makeup is going to make a big difference in your pictures! I think its worth it. :-)

The priice I think is pretty fair... if you want to save money you might be better off just heading to the salon early but then you have the inconvenience of driving around..... I think if you were thrilled with your trial run then you wouldn't be questioning the price so maybe you should consider looking around a bit more.... I do think she charged you too much for your trial run.... Personally I don't think she should charge you more than $50 if she was great you would hire her and would be bringing her some good cash!!
