Spokane couple paying with limited budget

I can't remember if I'd posted this up last year when I read about it, but found it interesting to read a follow-up http://green.yahoo.com/blog/greenpicks/284/couple-recycles-400-000-cans-to-pay-for-wedding.html

Such a cute story, and now I'm wishing we had enlisted FIe's parents to grow flowers for us! :P.

I think I heard about this on Offbeat Bride.  Their wedding planning (and proposal) seems to ignore most etiquette rules, but more power to them for being so Green.

Is it bad that I read this, and my only reaction was that there was no way I could plan the wedding I want for $3500?

If it is bad, is it an acceptable excuse that I'm like under 6 weeks out from our wedding?  :)

Um, yeah, that's pretty messed up to propose at someone else's wedding! It was their day!
