Confused about a DJ. What do you think? Suggestions?

I don't know what it is but something about DJs to me really makes me uncomfortable! I think it's the way thy carry themselves. I read good reviews about some and have talked with them and they just seemed pushy and way way too "busy", but their videos of their work was great.

I have spoken with a DJ recently and his videos of his work are really great. Seems like a reasonable price also. They have many many reviews, all positive... On wedding wire by people that have only left ONE review ever. So I wonder if he nudges them to do it or if they are fabricated.
At the end of the day they do have some reviews I'm sure are real and they have so many videos and I like what I see.

Here's something else I'm iunsure of-- in videos by them they say "we want to be number 1, we are serious and love what we do, been doing this since blah blah, we'll be number one!" and it's like... I don't care about that >._.<
I know this is their business and all... But I'm just put off by it!

Anyone know what I mean or encountered this also with DJs? And also, I haven't booked (was actually saying this week to a few people that I finally was!) but thought I'd ask this before I sign anything.

I suggest posting here who you are thinking of booking. The girls here will definitely give you their honest opinion!

I booked a dj who I am friends with. He is great. I befriended him while attending weekly trivia that a local bar with some friends. I guess I got lucky.

I def think that you have to pick a DJ that you feel comfortable with.  There only being reviews left by people who haven't left any others is a bit odd.  It's hard to say if they are just left from really happy clients or if they're fake.  Def use your instincts.

My DJ was very much about trying to be the best DJ around and honestly that was a selling point vs turn off.  It showed his level of commitment and how much he wanted to please his customers.  I'd rather have someone be over excited about DJing than be just blah and not passionate about it.

I agree with PP, the best reviews to get are from fellow knotties.  Feel free to post which DJs you're considering.

I felt similarly when I started looking at DJs but when I met mine (Entertainment by Scott Sica), I know it sounds cliche, but I knew he was the one... He's low-key, middle-aged, calm, and NOT the center of attention.  He doesn't book any other weddings for the same day and he's yours for the day.  In other words, no matter how many hours I need him, or how many times I want to change my times, or even if I want to run late into the night (as there's no end time at our venue), he's flexible with all that.   I read lots of reviews on him and the article that New England Bride just featured him in, so I feel really comfortable and confident about him.
