AW: NWR Life Choice!

Alright, so I have already announced it to my lovely ladies on the DW board, and want to announce it to you ladies now as well.

FI and I have been talking A LOT about the future as of late, and one topic that comes up quite often is my inability to have children after the treatment I went through.

This week we took the steps to start the process of adopting through Children's Aid! There's a lot of paperwork, home assessments, classes, etc before you even make the list, and because we want to adopt newborn the wait is longer... the worker said on average from start of processing to getting the child is 2-4 years in this area, so we decided to start it now and knock that time down after the wedding a bit.

We are both SO excited about this

Congrats that's such awesome news!!!!! We can't have kids either, just found out I was in menopause - yup 31 and in menopause - they don't know why! But it's all pretty new so we are going to wait till after the wedding to talk about what to do next.

OMG!!!! Wonderful! Are you looking to adopt internationally or just within Canada? That really is a good idea to get started now. I had no idea the process was THAT involved. Beautiful! Congrats!

Congratulations! That is definitely a smart move to start the process now. Are you considering adopting internationally at all? FI and I are both adopted, me when I was a newborn and him when he was four years old.

We are adopting locally, mainly due to the financial side of it. If you adopt locally through Childrens Aid they cover all legal costs because they are that much in need of families to do so. We are SO excited to be getting it started! I can't wait to get home and see what's in the package at home!!!!! I know FI is waiting to open it until I'm there :P

Britt that is so wonderful to hear! Best of luck that the process is as quick as possible and not too stressful. Congratulations to you and FI! Also, I know you own your own company but that you also work for another company. You should see if they have an adoption assistance program. A lot of companies in the states too as part of your benefits. Not sure how long you plan to stay there and if that is a requirement but may help the financial process!
