Wedding Woes

Wedding Photographer Drama

So, our wedding is in 9 months (august 3) and we are on a smaller budget. We really can't afford an expensive photographer but i came across an ad for a wedding photographer. $600 5 hour wedding special. after calling her i liked her and she said we could do engagement pictures for $100.She showed up for our engagement session about 15 minutes late then we took our engagment pictures and i LOVE them. they are absolutly gorgious. they look so natural and unique. we have recieved so many compliments. So we decide we will go ahead and book our wedding with her. Well, first off her wedding package suddenly went from $600 to $750 because our wedding is next year and i guess she i raising her rates for next year. I was kind of like well that sucks but decided i like the pictures so we decide to go ahead and book. We drove to a Starbucks that was 45 minutes away to sign the contact and pay the diposit. We ended up waiting half an hour for her and she didnt show up. By this point i was hella pissed and we just left. i sent her an email asking what happened and she said her grandma hurt her back and she had to take her to the ER and she forgot her phone. Personally, i think this is a lie because she suddenly had a phone right after i emailed her, however i dont know that and its possible this did happen. Anyway so she apoligized and stuff but now im afraid to hire her because im afraid she will be late to the wedding and i dont want that to happen. My head is telling me to fire her and find another photographer, but my gut is telling me to give her another chance because her photography is awesome. also i just dont want to have to find another photographer. A lot of photographers take really posed looking pictures and she takes very natural looking pictures. so so pretty, should i just give her another chance and hope it works out? or should i find someone else and hope that works out? im so stressed about this because the photography is sooo important! What should i do??

Re: Wedding Photographer Drama

  • I don't think you should book her.  I know that the price is right and you like her pictures, but the 3 red flags you've mentioned are too much to ignore.  If you book her you'll be anxious up until the moment she shows up on your wedding day, and it's not worth it.  Look for another photographer.  I know that seems like a headache and a lot of effort, but you owe it to yourself to find someone that is 100% dependable.  As great as her pictures are, this photographer has not proven herself to be dependable.

  • I've been having nothing but headaches with my photographer, because time doesn't seem like an important concept to her. She was 30 minutes late for our initial meeting, two hours late to our engagement session, almost two months late getting us our engagement pictures, and is now almost a month late getting us our wedding pictures, with no end in sight. The money we saved using her was not worth the headache.  Things happen, but if her story was true, it was her job to contact you the moment she had a phone in her hand, which she didn't do. I'd look for someone more dependable.
