Shorty FMIL!

Ok, so my FMIL just sent me an email today asking me to help her look for a dress to wear to the wedding.  Our taste is completely different and she's about 5'0" and I'm 5'10".  I haven't been 5' since I was in about 5th grade.  So my dilemma is that I have NO IDEA where to take this woman to look for a dress.  To quote her, she is "really short, have a very fat body, no tits."  Again, these are her words, not mine.  I don't see her as being fat at all, but the other two are pretty accurrate!  Wink    Also, I told her that my mom's dress is long and flowy and she just about had a heart attack because she does NOT like long (duh, she's short) and doesn't like flowy.  SOOOO, does ANYONE out there have any suggestions on where to take her shopping in Des Moines that would fit her taste?  I'm at a loss for ideas... ANY help would be appreciated!!!!

Thanks!!!

Banana Republic has a great Petite section.  What size is she?  My FMIL talks about how she is overweight, but I think she's about a size 8, lol.  Far from overweight, IMO.  You could also try Dillards, Von Maur....they have beautiful dresses, and one is bound to fit her.

What color and pricerange is she looking for?

My mom got a gorgeous MOB dress from Stacey's Bridal in Urbandale, where I got my dress.  They were extremely helpful, and we had a great experience with them (also got my wedding dress there).

My mom has found things both at Dillards and JC Penny that she has really like and my mom is of short stature and somewhat heavy set, so she too has trouble finding things she feels comfortable in. Keep in mind that if she finds something she likes that is longer than she wants, it can always be hemmed. Good luck!

My mom is short and heavier and found her dress for my sister's wedding at Dress Barn.  It was very pretty and not too expensive if she has a price point.  But, I second everyone's Dillards, Von Maur, and Younkers.

    Good luck!

You might also think about Ann Taylor, they have a petite section as well.

I would ask her where she likes to shop, and see if they have something that would work!

I second the Dress Barn, my FMIL found her dress there for really cheap and I know they have a pretty wide range of sizes.  Other than that any departments store should have good selections.
