Just thought of another question you may be able to help me with, sorry for loading up the board!!

Booked NYNY online and paid deposit, they emailed about a 15% resort charge! Do you have to pay this or is it optional?

More importantly I have emailed them and asked if I can pay balance prior to arrival and have received no response - anyone know?? I really want to have as few bills hanging over me when we get there as possible?

    Unfortunately more and more hotels are charging the resort charge on top of the daily rate. You should be able to pay your room in full ahead of time but the resort fee is usually charged to your room each day you're in-house. You might be able to talk to them about paying that up front too though.

    I've never heard of it being charged as a percentage but if that worked out to it being less than $15 to $20 then you're doing better than you would be at Mandalay with their hefty $21/night resort fee.

    You should be able to pre-pay since it's part of MGM group; you have to call in and tell them you'd like to pay in full prior to arrival and they'll just put the balance on the same card.

    The resort fee is complete BS; I guess its just so that hotels can advertise lower rates than each other and then jack the price back up when you check in.  Mandalay wouldn't waive it even when I was booking rooms for eight wedding party guests in addition to our own rooms.

    Harrah's is really making a big deal lately our of their "no resort fees policy" but I didn't really understand why. Guess it's been so long since I stayed anywhere other than a Harrah's property that I didn't realize how much others were charging! HOLY COW!!!  Guess that's even more incentive to stick with Harrah's for me

    We love HARRAHS!!!!  Great rooms and right in the heart of the action.  Plus no resort fees.

    If the gambling side of the house hadn't treated me so well, the resort fees would keep me from going back just on principle.
